I am about to do it now that it has cooled off a bit. I painted everything black except for the center section, 2 vents and some bolt heads. I just received the shift boot that is white with quad black stitching. I just have to line the tub now. I hope I can be done and post some pics for you this week end. (crossing fingers)

Has anyone used the Mopar Spray paint to paint their interior that you can get from Quadratec. I am really wanting to paint my interior Black and accents of Teal since I have the teal exterior. Just wanting to know if that will work alright. I know when I was much younger and had custom cars (Eurosports, lowriders, etc.) we would use stuff like that but we always had some kind of Mod done to it that was using angel hair.......Let me know opinions.......Have not found teal in the Fusion yet......

Thanks for the pics.. how is it coming along? Also what color are u lining your tub with? Was originally going to do black, but now I'm thinking white.

Also, I might do my entire dash black, but with white trim. Someone posted one with a green trim that looked pretty sweet.

Hey all! I would really like to do this to my jeep but fear all the clips I would break and snafu's I would cross. With that being said, do any of you live in or near Baltimore and would be willing to lend a helping hand for beer/food? Doesn't have to be right away so if your at school and will be home during break that would work. PM if you could help, thanks!

Dragonii used a red Krylon fusion as a base coat then used duplicolor color match right on top of it. I dont see why the Qtec paint would be any different. In your case you should get as close as you can get with the fusion then put the color match right over top of it. unless you are just doing a few small areas like the vents and whatnot, in that case paint the whole dash in your base color then use the color match on any areas you like.

That sounds like a good idea! Thanks for the input. The way the weather is cooling down here IDK if I will be able to get to it now. I believe that it needs to be at least 75 degrees to do this for a couple of days doesn't it.

I would say that as long as its not below freezing you should be ok. The can says use between 50f and 90f so if youre in that range then have at it.

An old trick my grandpa showed me...
Get a pot and boil some water, sit the paint in the hot water for a few minutes before spraying. It heats the paint and thins it making it spray finer. During the summer I just sit them out in the sun for a bit before using it but in the cooler months the hot water works pretty well, as long as it's not freezing outside that is.

Alright thanks guys! Hopefully I will be able to get this done in the next couple of weeks. Right now I am trying to get mine and a buddy's rig ready for Fall Crawl in 2 weeks. So if I get everything done and have time I will get this done.

Thanks again for the info and the advice on the boiling water!

How much did you pay for yours? My drivers side interior is in pieces, actually one side is missing. I need to replace it, but don't want to pay $150 for a brand new pair.

I only need the driver's side, yet I'm never lucky enough to find one.

The weather heated up again and I have done nothing. I have company for the next 2 weeks so its not looking good... sorry. I decided on black for the tub. I was going to do the whole thing in lime green or bright orange inside and out but could not decide. With the black tub I can paint or monstaline the exterior any color I want. For now its going to remain white until I decide. Have you ordered the white paint chip from monsta? Its the one I don't have and wonder how close it is to the stock stone white. Good luck.

Do you have pics of the panels? What yr?

I would advise reading this thread... maybe twice before you paint.

Page 1 has all the info you could ever ask for on what kind and how much paint you will need. Follow Dragonii steps and you will have a new interior in no time.

Looking real nice, Stanton Tucker! We're also going to black to go with our white/black theme.

Hubby and I started painting our interior black yesterday. It was peeling tan/sad paint on top of tan/sand plastic when we started, so had to sand a lot. Talk about a time consuming transformation! Turned out looking better than before, but not perfect. My perfectionism gives me an eye tic when I stare at it too long, but at least it's an improvement.

In several places - only on the textured plastic pieces - the Duplicolor Bumper Coating turned out a bit rough. Thought it would have a smooth finish- am I wrong or did we just mess something up? Started with two thin coats (hardly looked like anything), then started applying heavier coats toward the end. We stopped after five cans and six coats. I'm thinking we needed to do heavier coats after the initial light coat...? New to spray painting, so this is a learning experience. Appreciate any tips!

Our progress so far:

We were getting maybe 1-2 coats per can on the sections we sprayed, then a little less once we started using thicker coats. Closer to 1 can per thicker coat. Keep in mind we were spraying in the dark, utilizing a small flashlight to help us see what we were doing. So we had to keep going back to cover missed sections. Crazy, I know. But we had to finish since I had to hit the road early the next morning...

It looks great. Only the speaker covers have stayed a bit rough in texture. Still not sure why that is. I know they are made of a different plastic than most of the dash. Plan to get the doors done within the next couple of weeks. We're thinking we want to add a dark grey stripe, using the visual line that Dragonii used in his interior. Give it a simple two-tone look that won't clash with whatever colour we paint the Jeep a couple years down the road.

So glad I found this thread! I've got a 98 TJ, green exterior with tan interior, and I want to paint some of the trim pieces black, but keep some tan. Someone told me this would clash, but I thought it looked pretty good. Thoughts? Was going to pain the vent area black, keep the seats tan ( maybe with some black seat covers ), black floor mats, keep the glove box area tan. Open to suggestions though. Also will be painting my grey soft top black pretty soon...wish me luck...

I don't think it will clash as long as you bring it together with the accessories. My interior is that dark grey, and I'm going to do the opposite of you and accent it with the sand duplicolor. Also, let me know how the painting of the soft top comes out!

Will do. Hope to do it Sunday...had to bug a friend to let me use his garage, and I think I've finally wore him down enough to get it done. I gotta find a house so I can work on my jeep in peace and on my own time...

x2, I work on mine in the road out front of my house since I dont have a driveway and the parking lot is too far to run if I need other tools. I have to look both ways before getting out from under my Jeep, plus I have to worry about all the old folks ramming my Jeep cause they cant see over the steering wheel.

Arrggh.... buddy called me Sat and asked if we could reschedule painting the soft top to next week sometime.....

Ah well. Speaking of interiors, let me run this by everyone: My TJ is a nice dark green (hunter? forest?) on the outside, with a black and tan interior. I really enjoy the green exterior, and saw that krylong fusion hunter green color. I was thinking rip up all the carpet and either replace it with black carpet or just leave it off to expose some green, paint all the dash black except for green speaker covers ( the trim pieces you remove to get to the speakers on left and right side ), black and green door trim and.................stuck. Thoughts? Too boring?

Im personally not a fan of just doing the covers and "easy to remove" stuff. That makes it look like you just painted whatever was easiest. I say do the full thing black, or do the dash black and the wrap around the interior (like where Dragonii put red) in Hunter Green.

Good idea! That's why I ask, 'cause I suck at creativity!
