So I finally finished mine for now. I did all my dash door panels and console satin black but I HAD to do something different with my console lid. I wrapped it in Camo carpet and did a raised Warn logo in the middle. The logo doesn't stand out as much as I wanted but I like it and the carpet is very comfy compared to the sticky paint lol.

Yeah I didn't wanna deal with sticky paint so I went this route. I'll tell ya though I've never done anything like that before and it took me about an hour to get it right with no wrinkles or seams. The only two folds you can see are on the back side on each side but they are a perfect mirror image so I'm happy with it.

I recall someone saying they used a clear top coat of glossy finish, wouldn't that rid the "stickyness"

That would probably still be sticky, yet another reason why I went with the bedliner. No stickiness there

It happens just about every time I plug my iPhone in. I'm curious to see if others have the same issue.

My kenwood used to do that. I called Crutchfield (as you know very valuable customer service), representative clued me in that there was a stereo reset button beneath the faceplate. I reset it and voila, all the problems I had with the head unit (USB eventually totally ceased to work and something else I cant remember...) fixed themselves.
Pop the faceplate off and look for teeny button. Use a pencil or paperclip.
Hope that works!

Heres an 18 month update I posted in another thread, figured Id copy and paste it here too. Sorry if you have already seen this:

Follow the exact directions and use the exact products that Dragonii used and all will be right. Even if you dont do as much as we did, you will still have the same results, great looking dash and holds up well. I did mine well over a year ago and its holding up great. MOST IMPORTANT THING >>> Dont use duplicolor <<< Use the Krylon fusion or bumper coating.

Heres almost 18 months after I did mine. Havent done any touchups on it at all:

Problem areas:

where the keys hit the dash.

Kids stepstool to the rear seat (armrest).

Kids kick panel (glovebox)

As you can see, if done properly, this can be a huge upgrade and last a very long time.

Added this to my ever growing "to do" list. I have a red jeep and don't care for the tan interior. This will also give me a chance to teach my young 'un how to rattle can!

Just found this thread and now have a project. I was looking for replacement dash pieces for my 1997 TJ and never thought of painting.
My jeep is a dark blue metallic ( forgot the offical name of color) and has the tan or spice dash. I am thinking of doing what everyone else did but has anyone done the #2329 Krylon fusion patriotic blue OR navy blue? Hard to tell on a computer. Just wondering how close of a match it would be to the 1997 blue paint. Also thinking of the Duplicolor bumper in black for the accent color.
Blue and black? any recommendations?
Thanks.

Hey guys just wanted wanted to let everyone know that I've been reprinting my dash. I found that before I started painting I found that valspar makes a clear plastic primer. It has done an amazing job of helping the paint adhere and gets a better coat.

I grabbed Rustoleum Self Etching Primer...I may return it. I think its to be used on metal. I don't know how that would work on the plastic...any thoughts?
