Yeah after you scuff the panels you should clean them really well for maximum paint adhesion. And yeah the grab handle will stay tacky for a couple days. It's made of a different material than the rest of the interior is.

Ok cool. Krylon fusion apparently takes 7-10 days to harden fully. Thanks for the help!

All right guys you got me hooked. I am going to tell my wife it is all your fault. LOL Took out the plastic molding piece thingy that is around the shifter and 4x4 shifter and cleaned it down and started painting the inside dash. I am going from that grey or weak black to just plain black. I am just going to do one piece at a time. It will take some time but will look sharp when I am done.

Hey man, it's pretty easy and fun. Just be sure to mask everything off really well on the doors if you keep the panel on. If you need ideas check mine out. Posting pics after this post

Looks great! The green really looks nice with the tan. Now you just need one of my custom black shift boots with tan stitching as the final cherry on top!

I want to make it two tone but have yet to find a blue. When I got the black all that they had was black, white, green, red, tan. My Jeep is patriot blue so red, green and other colors are out. Once I find some blue I will be doing the middle stripe across the inside.

Looks great. You can also do the ash tray cover and the top vent cover where the defrost comes out for some more accents,if you want, if not still looks great.

Ok so I finally got the piece that goes around the shifters on the floor, will install it back in tomorrow after it cures. I have removed and painted the long narrow piece that goes right against the windshield (has the defrost vent and VIN window) and the grab bar and trim behind it on the passenger side.

Now I am at the passenger air bag cover and I got the very top and the very bottom undone but can't get the middle part undone. Right where it rounds the top. I am still looking for blue paint for a middle strip. I will have black/blue/black.

The airbag cover is the hardest part...there are two 10mm bolts that keep the cover bolted to the frame. One on the upper back left, and upper back right. The left one is fairly simple to reach, but the one on the right is a HUGE pain in the butt...You'll need a 10mm ratchet wrench, like this:

It'll take a while to get it off, but it's worth it once you get it all painted up!

As for blue, I used Duplicolor Vinyl Blue:

Ok I just went back out to take another look at it and now I finally see it. Crap that is going to be a PIMA. Thanks guys for the tips. I guess I am stopping at the auto parts store tomorrow on my errands run. This is another reason I have come to love this forum, if not for you guys I would not have been able to do all of these 'fun' PIMA things. LOL

The rubber insert was rustoleum plastic and vinyl.
The defrost cover and the center bezel (that covers the stereo) were done in duplicolor bumper paint. The airbag cover hasn't been done yet.

Don't know if anyone answered, or if you already did this, but black and any color will look good. Maybe try silver like the exterior?

So the duplicolor bumper paint gives a similiar factory "matte" finish on the interior? Can you tell what color you used? That looks very close the "agate" interior color.

Doors are off and ready to be done. But you get the idea. Just glad to have it back on the road after having the dash out due to heater blender door issues..

That is totally up to you man. Sounds like you have a pretty blank slate.sliver is pretty neutral.what is your favorite colors.what color lights do you like because then you might want to do lights to match or offset. Then look at the colors available because there is no point getting hope set on a color and can't find it.

It's a little darker than the "agate" interior. It looks darker and it gives a better finish IMHO

Good luck! It's one of the best mods on this board! If you take time and do your prep work, it'll look fantastic when you're finished.

Ok so today I finally got some pics. So here they are.
Air vent Part 1 of 2
Air vent Part 2 of 2

One of the speaker covers.

Trim piece behind passenger grab bar.

Passenger Grab Bar

Trim around Speedometer Cluster. I have only goten the Black done on it. This one piece will be 2 colors. The other will be Blue of course.

Front of the Glove Box.

Passenger Airbag Cover.

Some more pieces in various stages of painting and clear coating. I put back the shifter shroud (thingy) today. It looks great. Just one problem. Now it makes the shifter boot look like crap. I may just have to replace it with BardoFett's new boots.

Reading back at the beginning I saw you cleaned it with a sponge and dawn soap and then acetone... I saw later someone said not to what have people done to prep that has been successful?
