Lot of guys w/ red go with a red/black interior. You want the color inside to just be accent...So if you don't like the tan (which is neutral), then you need another neutral...usually black or grey. Then, depending on what color you chose, you could do red (obviously), but dark green, even yellow might work...

Basically, the two colors on the inside should complement each other - one neutral and one accent, regardless of what your exterior color is.

That's what I did, I taped of and covered the interior while I painted the main dash portion. Call me lazy but I really needed it done in one day.

My first reaction was to go with the red/black interior, but the Yellow has me intrigued!!!!

I wish there web site where you could "paint" the interior so you could get an idea of how it would look.

Could always print out a sketch of your interior and color it with the kids markers lol. And I'm not trying to talk you out of doing red and yellow but that reminds me of an old school McDonalds. Would hate for you to get it all done and then have that pointed out to you. :-)

Just draw your dash and make a few copies then grab some colored pencils or whatever and start working it out. Do what looks good to you. Don't ask someone to choose your colors , it's your Jeep! Make it appeal to you ! That's the whole point of doing it. Don't be afraid of getting creative. It doesn't have to be just two toned either. Try a stencil or something in a couple spots to tie a theme together. Everyone does the two tone thing. Just have fun and be creative. Make it something nobody else has. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I've actually been thinking of doing an entire interior based on Graffiti. Working from photos I have taken from all over the city. I want to do it all with a base coat of various colors and airbrush over it. I can totally see a door panel or something that looks like a brick or block wall with a kick ass mural on it.

ok, i watched that Cobra Weave video. i am assuming that the Door Handle itself
takes the place of the Center piece of Cord. is that correct ?
I would like to make these this weekend as I have little to do tomorrow.
Also thought it would be cool to paint the Handle to get a third color working in there.

Painting a steering wheel would be a bad idea imo. It would get dirty, feel sticky, and just not turn out well. Paracord wrap it or use a cover. For the center, if it is equipped with airbags, paint could affect it deploying, I wouldnt mess with it

I did paint the airbag cover with Krylon Fusion. but for the portion that you handle I would just grab a cover for that. Wallyworld has some decent covers for cheap. I didnt think about it possibly affecting the airbag deployment but I dont think it would be a thick enough coat to affect it. Worst case is you might get a paint chip in your eye...

I am going brown and tan (light) on mine. Here are some pics with it mostly done. Just have to finish the dash mods for controls before I put it all back in. Best part of doing it was seeing perfectly where wiring runs and can be run for accessories. I removed the passenger air bag and mounted the cobra 75 receiver unit on the two firewall bolts that hold the air bag. My plan is to setup a panel connector for the mic. Just waiting for it to come in.

did mine in one day, I let the removable parts dry for an additional day before I put them back in. I didnt remove the dash or airbag cover, I only took out the easy stuff to remove.

Pretty much a whole day to remove everything - including door panels, dash and airbag cover.

Then one day to prep & paint, day to dry, day to reinstall.

But really worth it. Mine looks great!!
