Any suggestions on the best tire for the price? I will be using my jeep in the woods and mud but mostly the road. So I would like something that is good in the woods with low noise on the road but also wearing nice. I have a 04 Wrangler with no lift at this time.
I got nankang mudstars. I paid like $110 each. They are a bit noisey on the road. I Acually like the sound. It's jeepish. Not to loud at all. They are absolute beasts in mud and sand.. and so far are wearing ok.. no chopping yet. I've lost 1/32nds of tread so far in 3k miles. Maybe A 40K mile tire...
I had a stock 98 4 banger with 31's on it for awhile in college. They are fairly noisy but i really liked defintiy Dakota mud terrains. they were pretty cheap and had holes to add studs for the winter. I got them from pep boys and if i recall they had a 40k mile warranty on them.
Kuhmo Road Venture 51 10 ply 120/123 rating are a really nice AT tire and there's a $120 mail in rebate on a purchase of 4. I bought five 275r75 16s for a shade over $700 including delivery and before rebate. They look and ride great on my rig.
I love my Mastercraft MXT tires. They are made by Cooper and have held up well on sand, mud and on the road. Take a look at them, they are relatively cheap and they are even on Amazon Prime!
Another vote for Duratracs they are a great all around tire. I run a set of 33x12.5's on DC2s for the summer then switch to my winter set of 31x10.5's on stock echo rims.

Cmonroe.........I am looking for tires for my 03. Is yours stock or do you have a lift? Do you have a pic from the front or back to show how for they stick out? What about wheel size, do you know what offset they have? Thanks
Another vote for Duratracs. I have about 35,000 on my 31's, they're wearing very even and the traction is great in most everything we have here in E Iowa.
If most of your time is on the road BFG a/t is hard to beat. I'm on my 4th set. 1st on a Wrangler. My Rubicon had mtr/k 's on it when I purchased. Best money I have spent on this Jeep is switching the tires.
Yet another Duratrac vote. 60,000 miles on my first set and now I'm on my second set. Used to run BFG ATs on all my Jeeps but Duratracs work better for me. Awesome in snow and mud.
My 03 Rubicon had the BFG TA's with about 30% tread remaining. Got the death wobble once and very loose steering on bumps. Replaced them with same size Duratracs and noticed an immediate improvement to the steering but a little more road noise. The reason for wobble turned out to be a worn ujoint. I'm sold on Duratracs.
