Tires??

So, I am new to the Jeep thing and recently bought a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X. It had Hancook 215/75/15 on the origional steel rims.
I am not sure if I want to raise it much if at all but I do know I want it to look a little more beefy.
I am considering 235/75/15.
I do mostly road driving and occaisionally like to find a trail. (In S.E Massachusetts that is hard to find)
Any one have any suggestions on tire size without a lift. Or is a small lift “A must have”.

Depending on which rims you got you can run up to 31x10.5/15's without rubbing

The 215 is approximately 27.7" and the 235 is 28.8" in diameter. I would recommend a 31" tire (no lift needed) as mentioned above. Keep in mind that most 31" tires actually measure a bit smaller then 31". I have seen new 31" AT's that measured 29.8"..

Non Rubicon TJ's came with either two or three different 15in stock rims. If yours are the ones im thinking of then yours are 15x7's.. In that case 31x10.5/15's will most likely rub when turning..

Yes the larger tire will cause your speedo to read slower than you are actually traveling. The larger the tire the greater the inaccuracy. After you install the tires you can pace another vehicle or find one of those roadside radar units to figure out the difference. Then if you feel it's necessary you can change the speedo gear to correct.
