Tires Now, or Later...

I need some advice. I REALLY need new tires, and I was thinking of hanging on to the ones I have which are tiny and look so stupid, until october so I could buy studded ones, then regular tires in the spring. I was thinking I dont want to get new tires incase something happens to my Jeep in the winter and I'm stuck with a set of tires I dont need. I was going to get 31x10.5x15 tires. Is it worth it?

what about tires and a set of chains. might that be cheaper then 2 sets of tires.
or maybe a used set and stud those, as kind of a winter/snow only tire?

I think I will just get a used pair of summer tires, and a new set of studded...

I am big on tires and maint. If you need tires you are going to have to bite the bullet and get some. If $$ is the issue, check Craigslist or something simular, but you need good rubber on the pavement.
