A Clean Title is always going to get the most resell and will be easiest to sell.

"Factory Buyback" - it was a lemon and was sent back to the factory to be refurbished. (Medium risk)

"Salvaged" - It was Totaled and then made so it could at least scoot down the street again. (High risk)

Because of the inherent problems with old and broken vehicles.

Lets take for example you have an old totaled Jeep with front damage that you bought back and fixed to a "great" aesthetics and functionality. Well you didn't realize that it also affected the transmission, frame, and the whole rear drivetrain because of the impact. A year down the road you need to start replacing the now breaking parts.
Have you ever wrecked a vehicle and had it fixed? You can definitely tell it's not the same vehicle.

True but how much would you think a buyback affect the price?

Think of it as "Refurbished". When you go to Best Buy to buy a laptop, the Brand new model is $1000. The Factory Refurbished model is $900.

You pay $1000 for the new and take it home and it does not boot. Ya take it back to the store and get a refund or pick out a different one. The broken laptop is sent back to the Factory to get fixed. Factory replaces the failed parts, boxes it up and send it back to the store to be sold as "Refurbished" for $900.

So better than rebuild but not as good as the clear. Will buyback affect insurance if it gets wrecked?

Ask your insurnce company. Some will cover a "branded title" vehicle, however most seem to stray away from them.

My 99 Durango was in a minor crunch (rear hatch and minor nose damage) and the insurance compny declared it totaled. The buy back was 500.00 which was a no brainer to get it back plus I have a bit of money in parts on the vehicle. I took the payout amount (minus the 500) and had it repaired for less than the payout. The insurance compay reinsured it for the same value. Note in NJ there is no such thing as a salvage title for a vehicle over I believe 8 years old

Well again, mine is insured for the same value it was prior to to the buy back. The insurance company knows it was totaled and a buy back as it is the same company.

- Mine does not have a salvage title. My understanding is a salvage vehicle is usually has a lower value.

- Research how the buy back process is handled. It differes state to state and can cost a lot making it not worth it in some cases.

- Don't worry about it at this point. You don't know what the condition may be if you have a situation that it is declared totaled. Totaling a vehicle occurs when repars exceed a specific percentage of the vehicles value. Find out what your carrier has as a threshold.

My old car before my TJ was a 2008 Nismo edition 350z #1147. These were rare cares kbb value was 32k but with a rebuilt title it was "valued" at 25k. I couldn't give it away for 20k or even 19k. So I traded it for my jeep + cash. Rebuilt title cars are hard to sell. Even if they were repaired better to factory like my car was.
