Tj Dana 44 diffs

Hi all I'm new to all of this

Ok I have recently purchased a 99 tj and I have stuffed the rear diff and I'm wanting to know if the front and rear Dana 44 from a tj are interchangeable or if any one knows where I could get one

Any help would be great thanks

"stuffed"? i am unfamiliar with this term and would like to know it's meaning. i thought the diffs on a TJ were a Dana 35 stock

Yes you can take any TJ Rubicon 44's and bolt them right up. If you get a 44 rear from a non-rubi just make sure both front and rear have the same gears

D44 rears were an option on TJ's, Rubicon's had 44's F/R

I would imagine he means it is "broken".

Rubicon: Dana 44 front & rear
Sahara/Sport: Dana 30 Front Dana 35 rear with Dana 44 as an option

Contact Chrysler for a copy of your build sheet, or here http://www.fyurl.com/rr.php?c=2&site...ull&category=U

You need to find out what carrier the D44 on e-bay has, if it is a front axle on a TJ (Rubicon) it will have a locker. Your rear axle will be set up differant, more than likely a Trac Loc

Replacing a gear is a relatively easy and inexpensive repair to have done. What do you mean by the sun gear? Do you mean the ring gear or a spider gear?

Yes a spider gear and I have rang up and got quotes to have them fitted and it's around the $450 mark and $280 for the gears but I have picked up a complete diff (wheel to wheel ) but is it worth puttin some kind of cheap locker in my current diff as a spare or is there a stronger center that will fit in And yes the diff in it that I broke a tooth off is trac lock
