I'm thinking about doing this to my TJ. I like the look of cool white but I am not sure if they will be to bright. I know i read that you can dim the LEDs (but not by much).
In your opinion are the cool whites to bright to the point where they bother your eyes?

The dimmer does not work! I have red LEDs in mine from superbright and they did dim when I only had 2 LEDs in but when I put the rest in it quit dimming. If I had to guess I would say that the LEDs just don't pull enough power to dim once it's all leds. Just a heads up!

I would like to thank JohnnyZero for the excellent write up and follow through on this mod. Just got my new LED's and installed them all un under 40 minutes. Of course, My luck was not riding at the tables in Vegas today, I had to turn all but one new lamp 180 degrees, for the correct polairity. Lol Also I scanned the rest of the threads here just to be sure I didn't miss something. Great work Guys and Gals. From an old man in Oklahoma. <grin> Oh, wanted to mention that for less thank the price of the 3 lamps in the ac/heat control head from the local Dealer, I replaced all of te dash and shifter lights and that included priority shipping.

has anyone done their 4wd indicator light? mine is out and want to replace when i do the rest of the cluster with led's. Can i make the 4wd different than the rest without blending? I already did the light test of all the dash gauges where it does like a check cycle and i know for sure the 4wd light doesnt light.

Does anyone know what bulb I would need for the dome light of a 2000?

My order came today and I ordered a 4410-x9 festoon bulb, per one or two of the earlier posts, but the bulb doesn't fit in my dome light. The incandescent bulb currently in there has a wedge base.

Thanks for any help someone might be able to offer...

Maybe I did something right, or wrong. I dunno. But my dimmer does work. I replaces all the lights in the instrument cluster, HVAC, and the high beam switch. All dim.

Mine work too. Didn't doo the high beam (I like it being a different color). I just wish my HVAC was brighter, I can hardly see those even with the dimmer up (I keep it down for the instrument cluster)

So let me get this straight. You guys are saying you CAN dim your LED's?
Normally it would take a PWM(pulse width modulation) controller to dim an LED.

Are all jeeps the same or are different years and models, 06 TJ sport, going to require different amounts of bulbs?

So I want to go full red throughout my 05 lj, but I'm having a devil of a time figuring out which connector type I need for the dome lights and courtesy lights. I have looked through all the charts, but from what I have heard, the festoon style light won't work in the overheard light. Plus, do I want the high power or standard led for the rest of the gauges and hvac? Thanks guys, for the already tremendously informative post.

you want: Instrument General - 103. You need 5 (74-xHP)
#74-xHP LED CAR BULB Specifications

For the HVAC
Super Bright LEDs - Instrument Cluster and Gauge Backlights
The Neo Wedge Series
You need 3 of the NEOx 4mm - NOT Neo XHP

My part numbers are clear in the pix so if you get confused, just go off of them
Has anyone else confirmed you can use the Neo XHP? According to their site they are the same size as the Neo Wedge just with a brighter LED.

I have a 00 Yellow TJ, I'm thinking the Amber LED's, any ideas on that yea or nea? I'm wondering if it might be too bright and kill night vision. But I have yellow seat covers, getting ready to do some yellow paint on the interior (found on another thread on WF), so I'm thinking of just going all matching.

After reading this thread... twice and some other research I just pulled the trigger on LED lights from Superbrightleds.com. I used the discount code RE832 ?? for 5% (thanks to whoever posted that) Here is what I got for a 2001 Wranlger
# Location Part # Color/Specs Replaces
6 Dash 74-BHP - * 17 18 37 70 73 79 86;*
1 2nd light on toggle NEO3-xHP blue, 3mm ?
5 HVAC and Toggles NEO4-xHP blue, 4mm ?
1 Dome 4211-CW6 cool white 211-2
1 Auto trans shifter WLED-BHP4T2-AC blue 658
1 Auto trans shifter WLED-B5 blue 658
2 Step/Floor lights 921-B12 blue 912

I was unsure about the auto trans shifter fitment so I got two different ones. I'll update any issues and post pictures when it is done.

I've been reading this forum for a year now getting ideas and help. Guess its time to post something huh. So thanks to everyone that puts there knowledge and ideas out there.

I went ahead and bought the dash and HVAC lights, the dash looks great in red, the HVAC controls, not so much. Haven't decided whether or not I will keep the HVAC lights in.
