I just bought both white and red for mine. This project is so cheap, I figured if I don't like the red gauge lights, I'll go back to white.

Thanks, very helpful post.

Alright guys, here's a challenge. I'm trying to do purple. Problem, I can't find a purple LED that is 6 lumens. I could find the 2 lumen one on superbrightled but not one that will work for the cluster and hvac. I think purple would look sick inside my green jeep. I'm thinking about purple foot well lights too, foot wells and under the seats. Please someone save my soul!

The UV bulbs pictured in this thread somewhere have a purple tint. Look back through it, may be what you are looking for. FlameredTJ was the one who did it.

I'm on my phone and it doesn't like going backwards... It says there are 156 pages to sort through.

So are these right? Answering questions is a lot more efficient than multiple people telling you to sort though tens of 34 pages. Just fyi, the information I needed was not in the pages, thanks for wasting my time.

you want: Instrument General - 103. You need 5 (74-xHP)
#74-xHP LED CAR BULB Specifications

For the HVAC
Super Bright LEDs - Instrument Cluster and Gauge Backlights
The Neo Wedge Series
You need 3 of the NEOx 4mm - NOT Neo XHP

My part numbers are clear in the pix so if you get confused, just go off of them
These are what I went with! I went with the XHOP though much better sorry info wasn't there but here ya go!

Thanks guys. I think the miscommunicated part is that I'm not getting them from super bright leds. They have their own names for the bulbs. That's why I was asking. I was searching ebay and Amazon for purple ones and I couldn't find anything with even close to the names from SBLED. That being said, does anyone know the real name for the hvac lights? And i have sliders, not knobs, if that makes a difference.

Same bulb as the cluster for the sliders,
The knob style takes a different bulb...

And my advise is to read the thread which will tell you that you need the recommended high power multi led bulbs. Those single leds will only illuminate spots and not the entire dash.

I have the milti led bulbs recommeded. I am going off of multiple posts that single led do not illuminate uniform:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/inst...eds-80074.html

"I did the light change I went with V-led's shipped fast look good . I ordered both the single led bulb and tri led's the single gave hot spots so I tried the tri's and perfic all the light is even no hot spots"

" Looks like i need to go tri's then... the hot spots annoy me "

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/inst...eds-80074.html

"I went with the 74-x, if I reordered I would get either the HPs or the HP3s due to if you look at my pic of the full blue ones, you can see a few areas that are brighter than the rest."

Gauge Cluster LED Install - Page 73 - JeepForum.com

"I installed the pc74 high power 120 degree in instrument panel for $2.79 ea and I have hot spots. I'm going to try these 74-xhp3 for $3.49 each"

"I ordered both the single led bulb and tri led's the single gave hot spots so I tried the tri's and perfic all the light is even no hot spots "

"Looks like i need to go tri's then... the hot spots annoy me"

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/inst...s-80074-2.html

"I read something about tri-Led which reduces hotspots on the dash, is this true? Which lights would you recommend for the install?.......Yes the tri's reduce hot spots

Recommend V-LEDS.com"

For the dash and HVAC with the sliders can the 74-xHP3 be used? And if so would they be to bright anyways? Or should I just go with the 74-xHP?

Anyone have any stock bulbs for the AC controls that they wouldn't mind parting with? I've got a bulb burned out.

I think the problem with the single LED bulbs only comes into play with the later years orange needles. The earlier years had white needles and makes all the difference in the lighting (from what I understand throughout the 34 pages)

I get that the orange needles would refract light differently and could end up looking dimmer. But why would that effect dim spots throughout the rest of the cluster?

Also I remember somewhere in the thread where someone talked about how to take out the orange parts of the needle.

The needles would have nothing to do with illumination of the rest of the face.

Hey, if the guys above say that the single illuminate fine. Obviously other have said different.

I have a 03 which had orange needles and blue leds made the needles a dull purple that you could barely see. I pulled the needles off, took off the orange and painted them white. They glow bright blue now.
