I've got this green LED in my 1997 Auto shifter - slotted right in (and VERY bright).

To get the bolts above the dash you may need a ratchet with a small socket on it. I had a screwdriver that was too long.

I have a green circuit board looking bulb for the transmission indicator. When you take it apart, are you pulling the little black piece out of the bottom of where the housing looks like a funnel?

Those are the correct bulbs...
There are pics of the location in this thread...
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/ga...nstall-752937/
(the back of your cluster will look different)

The back of the hvac has 3 bulbs that the neo's completely replace

The 74-xhp go into the bottom wedge part that comes out of the back of the cluster. The stock blue bulbs pull out of the little brown connector. The Neos go behind the HVAC controls if you have the 3 knobs. If you have the sliders they use the same bulb as the cluster.

Finally got mine in, too...After I totally destroyed every old bulb trying to remove them out of the sockets...

But, who cares...old and crappy incandescents...

Got the red HP3 from SuperBrightLED...look great! One thing was weird, though...Sometimes the LEDs wouldn't work in the socket I put them in, but if I switched to another socket, they worked fine.

So, after I made sure they were all right-side in (and not flipped 180 degrees), THEN I had to pull them out and switch them around to different sockets, all together. But, finally worked and now looks great. Very easy to see at night.

AND, on a 97 TJ, the gauge cluster just pops out, after 4 screws...couldn't be easier!

Ok... I can't find a straight answer and I can't find the bulb on superbrightleds.com. I have a 98 tj sport and I am looking for blue led bulbs for the foot wells. Thanks in advance!

Here is what the original looked like:

Finally got it done! Stupidly easy, had a bunch of plugging/unplugging and switching the bulbs around to get them all to turn on. Absolutely love it, especially the foot wells.

The footwell lights should be under there. My dads 98 TJ has them and my LJ has them. They look like white domes.

But TJs had at least 2 different types of footwell lights over the years. Best to take one of yours out and check what you have before ordering.
Make sure the stock bulb is off before removing - the stock footwell bulbs burn HOT.

If you only use one hand and take a few breaks. Thirty minutes or less. The cluster is so easy to remove it should be out in less than five minutes. Five more minutes to take out old bulbs, five to put in new ones. Plug cluster in (without screwing back down) to check that bulbs are turned correctly. If not, unplug and turn bulbs that are working, put cluster in screw it back down and you should be well under an hour start to finish.
