Did the high beam indicator use the same bulb?

My Jeep does not have floor/ courtesy lights. I would like to add some but dont know where to pull the feed from. I found a unused wire (compass, temp, mirror) and it has 'courtesy lamps driver' Can I tap into that for my lights?

My jeep had these that were tapped into the panel lights. Every time my headlights were on these lights came on. I just put a switch in so I could turn them on or off at night. Works pretty good.

Now if I use this for my floor lights should I use a relay?

Not sure. Mine already had a couple lights wired in. I just spliced in with a switch.

The high beam indicator uses the same bulb as the rest of the dash lights. I left mine as a stock incandescent since the whole cluster is wired in sequence. If you leave one incandescent in, you will have some dimming capabilities. If you replace all bulbs with LED's you may lose the ability to dim your gauge cluster.

Anyone know how to connect a switch to the dome lights so that you can keep the lights off while running with no doors so that you don't have to keep pulling the fuse??

Ok I finally got a hold of a multi meter and my jeep at the same time. I tested the compass/temp/ mirror feed pin 6 labeled 'courtesy lamps drive' has +12V +/- when courtesy lights were off when I turned them on pin 6 was dead 0V +/- so I could use this with a relay but why would it have +V when lights are off?

I think there's a switch you can get from quadratec.

I just pulled out the door switches on each side. Disconnect it then it asked like the are always closed.

I don't have the compass/temp/mirror, but I believe the 'courtesy lights' on the mirror have switches at the mirror, so there would be a constant +12V feed.

Are you sure your wiring harness in the footwells doesn't have the connectors for the footwell courtesy lights?
There is a main loom running along the bottom of the dash - stick your fingers up over the bottom lip of the dash panel and you will feel it. If you stick your head in the footwells, you can see the holes to mount the footwell lights. There should be two connectors coming off the wiring loom in the vicinity wether you have the lights or not.
The connectors (one in each footwell) hang off the main loom on very short wires.

You can make the same switch setup that Quadratec sells much cheaper with a little bit of wire, a switch, an inline fuse holder and a coul less fuse tap connectors. Pm me if you need details.

'switches at the mirror, so there would be a constant +12V feed.' There is also a +12v line from the battery as well so I still can not figure out with the feed I mentioned is hot when lights are off.

'Are you sure your wiring harness in the footwells doesn't have the connectors for the footwell courtesy lights?' I have searched both sides and can not find footwell lights. I dont know if PO removed them or if they were never there.

This may have already been covered, but I don't have time to look through the 43 pages to find it. Can I replace the light for the shift indicator arrow on my 98 TJ? If so, does anyone know what bulb I should use for that? Thanks. I've been getting on here for a while but this is my first post.

Covered many, many times - including at least 3 times by me. Most recently in post #1250 on the previous page.
Now what are you gonna do with all that time you've saved?

You've got a point but I went red so it wouldn't mess up my night vision. Plus fighter jet cockpits are red so i pretend I'm in one 😊

How many bulb sizes are there and does it matter if I swap the little housing units or as long as the brown go back in the same slots and the black go in a black spot

Here a pic I just want to move those black based lights around, do certain bases have to be in certain spots?

I don't think you can put them in the wrong spot. But you can put them in backwards. You just have to flip them around.

Is there a write up on how to remove the auto transfer cover to get this bulb? Mine is out and I just need to replace it, and my search results brought me to this thread.
