I put that cool white LED in my 2000 TJ Soundbar. its very bright, lights up the whole jeep. Perfect for trying to look for stuff on the trails at night.

Done! Went with the blue in the dash and white in the hvac. I love it! Couldn't wait for it to get dark!

Sorry for the late reply, but this is what I used for the auto transmission light, you only need one for it

Smile Just installed mine

Just got our new tow a few weeks ago (my third wrangler over the past 30 years) and come here for ideas.
The led mod worked perfectly with the info you provided I was able to order all the led's (red) from super bright and installed with no issues.
I did go a little farther and changed my interior lights to red leds as well.(I have white led strips for usable interior lighting.
Excellent post and thinks for the info!!

I finished this up last night and it looks great. I did have a bit of difficulty getting the lights to light up at first but just unplugging and re-plugging them in and slightly adjusting them got them to come on. I did run into one unexpected problem. The odometer flashed No Fuse. Stupid me thought it meant I blew a fuse. It means you need to reset your instrument panel by holding the reset button on the instrument panel then turn the key into the run position.

After going through 700+ posts about LED lights I can't let this one go. Even if I'm way late to the game. In my area of east coast big rocks, you get your balls broke if you dont have an AUTO. I ran an AX15 for 10 years, but kept doing harder obstacles. I swapped in an AW4 and would only go back to a manual for street driving.

Now we return to our regular led lighting programming..... My apologies.

I know it's been covered before, but I don't have time to sroll through all the posts. Which lights did you guys use for under the dash? I believe they're called "courtesy lights?"

I have an 01 wrangler and am new to all the customizing stuff. I'm wanting to do the red LED's and I know you need to take off the dash. Can someone tell me how easy it is, I haven't looked but is it just screws to take it off? I appreciate all the help I can get

I just did this on my 01 and it is very easy. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver and you're good to go. The trim pieces just pop off once you have all the screws off. There are two connectors you have to pull once you have all the trim off, a black one and a white one. The lights behind the dash just twist out with your fingers. Real easy man

X2
The worst part was bending plastic around the key and getting the hole over the light switch and that wasn't hard at all. Easy man. Go for it. I'm confident you could have it all done in less than 30 mins.

Thanks guys, I get paid on Friday so I'll probably order them over the weekend.

Another question, with my jeep being automatic is it possible to change the bulb that lights the gear position?

Yes it is. I have an auto too so I did mine. The plate just pops off and you only need one bulb for it. It's a 194. The plate is a little tricky to get back on, I had to shift it from park to neutral in order to get it all the way back on but it's easy too you'll be able to do it.

So is the bulb I need for the shifter the same as the dash or same as HVAC or completely different?

Cool thanks, so your saying the plastic around the shifter just snaps off? It doesn't have any screws or anything? I don't wanna break it trying to take it off

No problem. Right there's no screws. Mine popped off easy. Just don't yank on it wicked hard and it shouldn't break. It actually surprised me how easy it came off.
