In my earlier post I listed all the LED bulbs I purchased and installed in my 2001 Wrangler. They were as follows:

Superbrightleds.com

For Dash (need 5 but ordered 2 extra)
(7) 74-xHP3: Wedge Base LED bulb-74-RHP3: Red

HVAC/wiper/defrost switch (3 for HVAC, 2 for switches)
(5) NEOx-x: NEOx LED instrument bulb-NEO4-R: 4mm NEO4-x Red

Light in defrost switch
(1) NEOx-xHP: NEOx High power LED instrument bulb-NEO3-RHP: 3mm NEO3-xHP Red

I found the dash lights looked Great!!! No "light" areas, very bright and really pleased. The HVAC/rear wiper/rear defrost bulbs were another story. Not at all bright enough and not pleased with them at all. I have since ordered the following for the
HVAC/rear wiper/rear defrost:

(5) NEOx-xHP: NEOx High Power LED Instrument bulb-NEO4-WHP: 4mm NEO4-xHP Cool White

My dash is still apart waiting for the LED's to arrive. I will post pic's once I get them showing the finished product.

I recommend getting the HP bulbs if you do this modification. Definitely worth the extra money.

Yes, this will work for a 99tj dash is 5 , #74 bulbs. If your hvac controls are sliders then they need an additional 2, #74 bulbs. Uf they are knobs then they are different

Your 99TJ should have the Three "knobs" for your HVAC controller. If it does the list I gave above will be all you need. I would recommend you get the "high powered" HP LED lights for the controls other then the ones I listed. I found the ones I ordered were not bright enough. I swithched them with the following:

(5) NEOx-xHP: NEOx High Power LED Instrument bulb-NEO4-WHP: 4mm NEO4-xHP Cool White

Go this way they are much brighter and if you will be much more happier.

On a different note, I gotta give props to superbrightleds.com. They actually messed up my last order (sent me blue LED's instead of the cool white I ordered). I installed them and the Blue looked great so I called them and they are sending me new blue ones for my dash. So I started with Red and am ending with Blue.

I did my instrument cluster today on my 04 TJ with the bulbs below. Note on the bulb picture the white dot on the bulb base...you can use that to get the polarity correct. With the cluster out and facing down; when you twist the LED bulb in the white dot should be on the right (towards the fuel guage). Also below are the results for me...looks good and cool (temperature cool).

I was just wondering if someone could clear this up. Is the bulb for the brights the same as the other cluster bulbs? I assume it is but I am not sure. Thanks

Great parts listing, the thread I used when I installed mine didn't have all of the info put together so nicely. I made a vid if it might help anybody having some visuals. I put the blue in an '04 TJ.

I finished my mod today on my 98 tj. I went with white for practicality. My LED size did not match up with what others suggested for the heater controls.

I have one dial on the left and two sliders, and it took the same 74-xHP as the instrument cluster.

I also added new LED lights to the front cabin lighting. On my jeep, these were a BAS15 bayonet type light, and I replaced them with 67-x9: 9-LED BAS15S bulb, cool white, 100 degree. These lights are rather cold and give off a bit of a greenish cast when the bulb covers are put back on the receptacle. I don't love them because they contrast so much with my dome light, which is a larger size than the 74-xHP. I'm seriously tempted to try and switch all 3 cabin lights to amber LEDs if I place another order.

At any rate, thank you all for helping make this an easy and fun mod!

Got my shipped email today on them. Nice part is I'm about 15 minutes from their warehouse, come on mailman! I've been cleaning the garage, getting it shop worthy, and been buying stuff for winter projects. Being a construction worker makes for alot of days off to play in the garage in the winter!

That's what I was afraid of, what years your jeep does it have the 3 knobs on the hvac or the older slide style?

Anyone do multi color in the cluster lights? I was thinking that if I were to do this, I would do red on the outside and white or amber on the inside

Also, is this the same as the newer jeeps? (2005 perhaps)
