TJ Dashboard Compass - that works?

I had a weak moment and bought a combo clock/compass/thermo at a local auto parts store and surprise - always headed north and always 82 degrees!! Anyone know of a decent after market compass that comes close to working and recommendations for mounting location with least interference.

Much appreciated!!

Keep the rubber side down!

There was a write up in the cheep fun easy mods thread about using a gentex mirror out of a suburban. Pretty cheap if you get it from a junk yard

Thanks!

The mirror mod is cool but my ,97 would feel out of place with that much tech in it! Thinking I might try a Ritche compass similar to what I've put on boats before.....but like to see in anyone has tried anything better that works.

Thanks again!

Bill

Just did the mirror mod and I love it. They were all over the junkyard and I nailed one for $11 with the sensor. I probably spent another $20 for installation Material.

Watching this thread as I too am looking for compass/thermo combo. I like the mirror mod and going to have to start looking into it. But I'd be happy with something I could just stick on the dash as well

I would love something like this:
In Out Battery Monitor Car Truck LCD Temperature Thermometer Clock Voltage Alarm | eBay
But not sure of the quality (or buying it from China). I wouldn't mind spending some money on something like this that was well built.

Most of that stuff is junk. Why not get a GPS - most have a compass screen. And you can get some good use out of the other features, too. Maybe not temp- I just roll the window down and I can tell if it's really hot or cold out.

Yeah I know most are junk, that's why I wouldn't mind paying for something of quality. A GPS would be good but I already have the ham radio mounted on the dash, and then a cell phone holder, I don't feel like adding a GPS just for the compass, although the map features are a plus

Tell you the truth, after reading and researching, I've come to the conclusion that I don't even need one of these gadgets. My iPhone has a compass/GPS and can tell the temperature. I don't need to know the exact temperature directly outside my vehicle.

Thanks everyone, you just saved me from buying something I don't need
