TJ keys

Guys,

I just got a 2001 TJ Sport, after selling my 2000 TJ Sport five years ago. My question is, should the ignition key also work on the door locks and the tailgate lock?

I was wondering about that, my center console has been missing the lock ever since I got it.

Sounds like someone changed the ignition switch at some point.

The ignition switch has nothing to do with the key. The ignition lock cylinder does.

Get a new one. Lol just buy a regular cheep-o one. I use a key for the doors and stuff. But have a different key for the ignition because it was worn to hell.

It's not uncommon among other vehicles.

True - but also, try not to have a janitor's sized key ring on there...all that added weight is one of the main reasons why ignition cylinders wear out so quick.

I had to re key the doors of my TJ when I bought it. The previous owner bought doors off eBay when the originals were stolen. It cost about 30 bucks. But the lock and tumblers in the ignition might set ya back a lil more.

I never understood locking the doors when someone can unzip the back and crawl in. That's why I never keep anything of value and rock a cheap jvc head unit. Perks of owning a jeep lol
