I'm sure we're not, but honestly, my build thread should have put you on your guard. I know how big a PITA it was for you from personal experience, and I can look back now and laugh about what I did myself, so by the time we meet up in Moab we'll both be able to laugh about it.

Answered in PM but I'll answer here too for others curious.

1) Factory trans mounts can be had at most auto store for around $40.

2) Nope, pretty much it. Grind the head lip off the old and punch them out. Install new and put a couple tack welds on them.

3) on the UCF skid you can only use the rear 4 mounting holes for factory transmissions.

Note....Anyone using an Ultra-hi-clearance skid .....see the notes for products. some require custom trans mounts or clearancing of the body of way of the good old BFH or sawzal.

I made damn sure the spring was in there. I paid sooo much attention to that stupid spring I forgot the magnet.

So I am blaming you.

I jacked up my transfer case to check clearance. It appears to fit without having to cut. The 1.25" BL is a must.

The transfer case linkage is going to be a PITA.

Mine had the drop kit because I had a 4" lift. Now that will have to come out and the linkage will go back to factory location.

Napa has the transfercase mount. Tricky though they think it is a transmission mount.

A little PB Blaster and some heat and the old mount came off.

Yes. However when I asked for the transmission mount they said I could only get that from a dealer. But when they looked up transfercase mount it showed up as a transmission mount. They have it correct on the Napa website.

Meh, computers are

On a side note. I was at the local "I'll leave the name out" parts store with a buddy picking up a few items for his truck. Just for kicks I though....geez...lets mess with this parts jockey. (kid behind the counter). Told him I needed a piston return spring for the number 7 cylinder for a GM 4.3L.

He looked for 10 minutes and then ask the manager (another friend of mine) ...He busted up laughing and said "sorry it's hard to find good help these days". We then broke the news to the kid and he got a little upset.

Oh well. ....Note....2 things. "piston return spring" and "# 7cyl on a V6"

He may not think it's funny now but when he pulls it off on a newb it will be hilarious.

I ground off the three weld nuts. These weld nuts are not easily found. 1/2-13 I was only able to get them from.McMaster-Carr.

Had to buy ten so if anyone needs a couple let me know.

I will be welding these on this weekend and mounting the UCF skid. Drive shaft will be here Monday. I hope to have this wrapped up Monday evening.

UCF Ultra High Clearance skid is installed. This made a huge difference.
The skid fit well and looks great. I can't wait to rub it on some slickrock in Moab.

Before with TC drop

UCF Ultra High Clearance 1/4" aluminum

The drive shaft should be in tomorrow. I hope to get it installed after I mow the lawn.

It'll make a huge difference. I never could've made it over buttpucker hill with the stock skid on 33s. As it was I barely made it back out.

I got a Woody.

Installed drive shaft and adjusted pinion angle.

Took for a test drive and can't get transfercase back into 2wd. 4lo neutral 4 hi all ok.

I'll have to adj the shifter linkage.

Well this last part has not gone according to plan. The transfercase shifter linkage was not at fault. Yesterday I spent six hours figuring out the why it would not go into 2wd.

The shift rail inside the transfercase needed trimming. Not all rails on the NP231 require this step. Very important to measure when installing your AA SYE.

Then I broke the transfercase linkage putting everything back together. Today I hope to weld up the linkage and get it all put back together.
