TJ Radio - Error when playing CD's

I have a 2001 TJ with stock CD player. Whenever I put a CD in, it flashes error and spits it out. After 20 to 30 re-tries, it will pause for a few minutes, and then play the CD.

Does anyone else have this problem? any solutions?

Sounds to me your radio is on it's way out. I would look into a replacement or upgrade.

Probably to old to read the format or it's broken. Either way it would be a good time to upgrade.

I had the same problem also...even on a brand new purchased cd. I just replaced it with a Kenwood deck. Very glad that I did because it was getting very annoying.

Ah crap, I know it sounds wierd, but I kinda wanted to keep it bone stock. Not a mod in the 10 years before I owned it, and I thought it might be cool in 15 years to have the last remaining bone-stock 2001 Sahara...

mine started acting up a little--replaced it with aftermarket---found out the issue was the cd's--newer ones played fine. but got more power in stereo now.

Seriously I wouldn't fool with it or a factory replacement. Like others said you can buy a good head unit for $80 to $150 bucks and then upgrade to an IPOD and forget the CD's. I asked a question about CD storage a while back and that's what led me to go buy a new stereo and an IPOD. I love it compared to CD's.
