TJ Radio Install Madness

So, the previous owner did a hack job on the stereo, it looks like he tapped into the harness and used all white wires to extend it or something. Can someone tell me if the white connector in the picture is the factory radio connector?

I ripped out all that crap he had and re-used the connector he had crimped into. I'll post a pic tomorrow of the finished product

I am just wondering why he put such long wires in. It looks like they go down into the dash and then wrap back out.

x2 this looks like he extended the wires for some reason or another. Actually looks like a decent job. Do I see RCA cables there also? My guess would be an amp install since there are a few wires tapped together. Looks like they ran the white and green wires together and the gray and purple wires together. I have this same hookup in my Jeep since I have my amp bridged to make more power to the speakers.
