Tj raptor lined!

all i can say is holy sh*t... past 48 hours have been hell.

90% of my bolts broke, took an entire day just to remove the bolts and even then still had to go to my brothers shop to get 2 cut out.

I sprayed 2 coats and it took 2 1/2 bottles, ill post pics tomorrow since i just got done it finally 20 mins ago.

Good night!

ill get some pics up in a few.

Really the hardest part for me were the troublesome bolts and having to turpentine all the glue off.. looked like he DIY carpeted it and used 10 gallons of it.

Came out nice, only 1 spot in the back that i dont like, i think the compressor or the raptor liner sprayed blank for a second and it has a different texture.

Just put a thread up about doing this. You like the texture of it? I think the raptor liner looks the nicest out of all of them, at least from the pictures. I've been prepping my Jeep daily as to keep from having to do it all when I decide what to use. Right now, the only thing I have left on the floor is the drivers seat and the center console.

How did you prep the tub before hand? I'm having a hard time telling if anything has been lined in your picture or not, or this is just a before hand picture?

raptor liner looks by the far the best i think i sprayed it at 45 psi, probably look a little nicer at 50 for a smoother finish.

Thats a pic from the preping need to snap a few with the stuff back in and what not.

As far as prepping goes though you really just take everything out, sand the rust and get that off if you have any, wash it out, scuff everything with some scotch brite pads until its not shiney, get some mineral spirits and wipe everything off real nice and then tape it off and spray.

From experience though id either use monstaliner or al's both of those ive seen and they both come out nice and are durable, Raptor looks amazing and after 12 hours i couldnt even scrape it off with a flat head so only time will tell how strong it is, strong smell though.
If you need any help or questions just let me know.

Why do you say you would use Monsta or Al's instead of Raptor? Just curious, as I am getting ready to buy product for this. Thanks, Joel

The smell from the raptor liner will be gone in a few days/a week mostly. I love mine, had a buddy spray it last fall. Holding up perfectly and I love the texture and ease of cleaning...

The kit has nothing to do with his bolt trouble.

Raptor is, IMO, the best DIY liner. The prep work is the hard part but that is necessary for ANY liner, DIY or paid. The better you prep, the better the end result will be.

I've just gotta' order it, my tub is as prepped as it's going to be, I'll just have to clean it out again real good before I start. I've been researching A LOT on this subject, and Raptor seems like best bang for your buck DIY. This thread (Over at Jeep Forum, womp womp) has a good documented story on lining the tub: My U-Pol Raptor documentary - lining the tub - JeepForum.com

Snowman, I may hit you up with some questions as I go along. Did you go with the 4 pack and the nozzle? What'd you end up paying? I found it on Amazon for a little over $100, didn't check on shipping.

It's on amazon all the time for $109.00 shipped. I have been eyeing it for a while now, getting ready to pull the trigger on a ti ntable kit.

Snowman: What did you do when your bolts broke? Just got a wire bristle cone to attach to my drill so I could prep down to the metal. But in all the excitement I also broke both the bolts that hold in my back right seat holder. Snapped right off, bolts still in there. What's the fix?

yeah those holders sucked.. i just cut the bolts out since i never use my back seat, if the bolt hed is just spinning you'll need to get pliers and hold the nut on the other side though.

And i ordered my raptor from tp tools for like 110 4 bottles and gun, used 3 bottles for the tub and 1 left over.

I don't use my backseat, but I do use my bestop instatrunk that uses the backseat holders to drive a pin through to keep it "locked," and stuck to the tub. The other two came out fine, arg.

I ordered this morning, and it's actually shipped this morning as well. I went with the TPtools ME-820 (Thats the one with the gun and the 4 bottles.) $112 with shipping, atm seemed to be the cheapest price around.

I've got a thread on trying to get these bolts out once they've snapped, and what seems like (over the top) prep work, just sanding all the paint off inside the tub.
