TJ Seat Risers

Anyone Using Them?

I just got a TJ and love it, but compared to my YJ I feel like I am sitting on the floor.

I see them for sale 1", 1.5" and 2", Anyone using? and what height? Too high too low....etc....

Anyone find alternative that work other than buying? Like Hockey Pucks or something?

I really like them. I've had the 1.5" seat risers that Randy Buchanan sells on my 2003 TJ for the last two years. I just purchased the 2" from him and am willing to sell the 1.5" if you are interested. As far as which one to purchase, my wife is 5'3" and the extra 1/2" on the 2" risers helped her some. I'm just over 6' and the 1.5" and 2" both worked really well for me. They really make a lot of difference in the comfort and driveability of the TJ.

Mine are in excellent condition with everything included. The seat risers, bolts, washers and instructions.

If you are interested I will sell them to you for $45 plus a few dollars for shipping.

I have 2 inch seat risers. I'm five one and without them I can barely see the hood. My only problem is my feet don't touch the floorboards now... still trying to figure out how to fix that one.

strap some pieces of a 4x4 wood post to your feet.

This link might help a bit, I would say go to a hardware shop, buy some tubing and make your own, this website can help you get an idea for the materials you would need.

I'm sure there is a kit out there that would bring the pedals closer for uuuh... little folk.

Thanks All.

smith1j, I will keep that in mind and you might be getting a PM some time in the future............don't hang onto em just for me though.

I was looking for opinions and will get some more seat time, maybe a little wheeling in a few weeks and then decide if I want to go this route or not.

That's fine just let me know. By the way. The risers I have are not made of plastic. The eight risers are made from 6061 black anodized machined aluminum blocks. Very well made and very strong. You can email Randy who made these, at buchananprec@adelphia.net if you have additional questions. There are a couple of excellent articles about these risers at http://jeep.off-road.com/jeep/articl....jsp?id=329012 and also http://www.stu-offroad.com/body/riser/seatriser-1.htm

Picked up some Hockey Pucks today for .99 a piece, Just need Hardware 1 inch longer, and then maybe pucks used on inside front might need to be trimmed....we'll see when I get to putting them in.

Old thread but it helped. Recently bought a 2004 Wrangler Rubicon. Seats are in just Ok shape and need to be replaced. Felt like I was very low and couldn't see the end of the hood. (I'm 5'09). Purchased the 1 inch kit from 4 Wheel Parts. Took about 20 minute's to do both seats. Huge difference. Much better command position.
