There use to be a vendor on this forum that sold a strip that's goes above the front glass frame to deflect wind. I can't find his website online anymore.

Kinda like a bug deflector but placed near the windshield?

No no it reduces soft top noise not engine noise. Its a piece of acrylic (like a bug shield) that attaches above the windshield so that wind does not enter at the header of the soft top.

What did you use as an adhesive? Any pictures?

I got a custom cut piece of acrylic from tapplastics.com. rounded off the sides, painted it, attached it with 3m tape (which didn't work well) and L brackets. Added a jeep sticker to make it look stock. It took the cabin noise down about 8db.

That's looks nice, it does look stock. What adhesive would you recommend instead of the 3M?

Unfortunately I couldn't even guess. If you look at the place the tape need to go, there's a strange rubber price jutting out right above it. So the tape would need to be quite thick. I added bent L brackets because of that, and because there was so little info on the original silencer system that I was worried it might fly off while driving.

8db is substantial difference. I take it you measured before and after the application was added? Also, is this with the top off or on(hard or soft or both)? Sorry about the questions but I wear hearing aids and this might make a world of difference for me for obvious reasons...

Yeah I used an app on my phone going between 40-60 MPH. I have a bestop supertop I think and it was on for both tests. I tried to record the data but I didn't buy the full version of the app. I will say it helps me hear my passenger from 1-60 MPH. But on the highway a new flapping sound from the middle of the softtop appears. I can tighten my top and that helps at the speeds mentioned but not 70+. All things considered though, I'm very happy with the difference

Thanks Wes, appreciate the info. I may look into something like this when the soft top goes up this month...

There are some pics in this thread, but the links to thesilencersystem in a couple of the posts don't work anymore.

Another post - not good news if you have an after-market top
