TJ Soft Tops

I had my mind all made up to order a Bestop super top today for my 2003 wrangler sport. As I was chatting with dude at jcw..ney, he informed me it didn't lay all the way back for true open top.I want 2 piece soft doors.

He said get the Sunrider, but it doesn't come with the 2 piece door option. The misses and I like to get out in the afternoon and go for a ride with all the doors and top off. Late at night it does get chilly sometimes. I want to be able to get out, pull the top back up, zip in windows, grab lightweight doors out of the back and keep on jeeping. Is there not an option for this out of the zillions mods for jeeps out there.

I figure I would ask the experts, because I am coming up with nothing.

JCW guy is an idiot. I own that top and if it wasn't fir all the crP I have in the back the top would disappear into the hole. As it is I fold it back frame and all and rill the canvas up nice and tight. It sticks up about 3 inches, cause the material is thick. Now the factory top sticks up way more than the supertop does FWIW and ever that's only about 8 inches.

^x2 i have the bestop supertop, bought it from a member here and it folds down almost flat. It probably does stick up about 3-4 inches from the tub but I think they all do that. The only way for them not to, is to disassemble and shove them behind the seat. Mine has the 2 straps that help to keep it strapped to the tub and help smash it down more. My previous tj was an 03 and it had the same top, folded down nicely. Your JCW guy was

The only reason any top should stick up more than a couple of inches is because no care was used in taking it down. My factory top sits up a few inches, because I have an Add a trunk, which keeps it from tucking all the way. And I have no idea why soft doors wouldn't work with any top. You may have to purchase them separately, but they should work with any configuration...

The Sunrider is basically a Supertop with a hinge in the frame right above the doors. It lets you flip the front part of the top back for the giant sunroof effect.

Both tops fold back completely, folding behind and slightly above, the tailgate.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think I am going to order one. Talked to a guy at Bestop today and he said yes it does fold all the way back. He also said it would work with my full doors, I had been told somewhere else they wouldn't.

Called JCW a few minutes ago and just to be sure I asked the same question and they said, No, I don't think it will fold back

I believe you guys and Bestop knows more about them.

Thanks man you would be correct, it does fold all the way back.

I finally got it installed tonight. Total installation time was 4.5 hours. 2.5 hours of which was used trying to get the the top to go into the windshield channel. It WOULD NOT GO After trying numerous times, kid giving up to go play the Wii, wife threatening to divorce me, I finally went to the shop and got out my Bestop Sun screen, which had its own windshield bar, popped it on there and within 1 minute I had the top snapped in. They looked the same but for some reason it worked with the other bar. Wife and kid were so happy they returned to help me finish. I do not know why that bar would not work, I will call JCW or Bestop Monday.

Now for the 2 piece doors, that's another new bag of worms. I got them on but for the life of me I can not get the latches to line up with my TJ. It got dark, so I will try again tomorrow. If you know something that is a quick simple solution let me know.
