With a EQ, you can set general listening parametric settings specifically for your ear.
I hated having to constantly change the environment on my HU. And, it wasn't exactly the way that I liked listening to that environment. But, I couldn't add a little more of a particular frequency. I can with an EQ.
It has a $999 MSRP. I can almost guarantee it has plenty of custom settings and at least a 7 band EQ. It has 3x stereo line level outputs... I would bet the farm there are a million EQ settings.

Replacement speakers all around will cost you $200 dollars. Then, you have to add the adapter. I believe the EQ is crucial. But, that is your choice. The amp is going to pretty much kill the rest of your budget, and you aren't taking into account, installation for everything. You may need to wait and save a few hundred for the sub woofer. I wouldn't try to do it too cheaply, too fast, and be unhappy with the results, if you want a great sounding system in a Jeep. Up to you. Maybe you can hit up the family. Tell them you want a sub woofer for Christmas, and you have it picked out.

I read the specs on it, and it mentioned environmental parametric presets. No independent Parametric EQ. But, I could be wrong. I am of the opinion that the OP is looking to spend a $1000 dollars and not looking for a cheap average Jeep Sound system. But, again, I could be wrong.

An EQ does not add any "quality" to your audio. It's actually just another piece of electronics to add distortion to your final output. Buying an independent EQ for a Jeep is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. As it has already been stated, the acoustics are complete shit in a jeep. You would be wasting money on an EQ. All you need is a decent set of speakers, receiver and a 4 channel amp.

Buy from a reputable brand and look at the THD & SNR specs and get the best you can afford. Don't buy some crap flip screen receiver and think your an audiophile.

Just a word of advice, even though this forum doesn't have a filter, the mods will jump down your throat for language (forum rules prohibit it). It's a three strikes and you're out system. I'm at strike 2.

How do you know how many strikes you're at? I would assume I'm at 12 or 15 by now.

Oh me too, but it only counts if you get a PM from a mod. They keep notes on us, or at least according the the last PM I got.

I'm looking not for people down 4 blocks to hear me but when I have people in my jeep, I want them to say, "what a great sound system". I have a hard cap of $600 and need an amp, subwoofer, soundbar and speaker replacements all across the board.

Do you already have a receiver? Do you have the factory sub in the center console? With that low of a budget your probably better off getting a nice set of 6.5s in the rear and 5.25 in the front and hooking them up to a 4 channel amp.

If your dead set on a sub your budget isn't high enough to include quality speakers running off clean power.

To be honest, I don't see it happening for a "great" sound system with a hard cap of $600.

Right now, I would get the 4-speakers, 5-1/2 adapter, Soundbar, and EQ.

$200 speakers
$20 adapter
$50 EQ (Some people will frown at the EQ, but it is needed for a "great" Sound System)
$100 Sound bar

$400 plus installation costs. This is where you are at.
I would get the above components installed with your HU, and see where your finances are at.

You are still looking at $175-$200 for the amp
and about $350 for the subwoofer.

I'm not attacking you. I just think your giving the OP poor advice. I don't want someone wasting their money on some junk they don't need because some ignorant person told them they needed it.

Wow! Just because I like my flip screen and its options, and recommended one, that makes me an ignorant person? Or just because I like a parametric EQ, in an amplified car stereo system, and recommended one, that makes me an ignorant person.
Just WOW!

People have different opinions based on their experiences. This does not make them ignorant. The ignorant ones are the ones who form opinions without the experiences.

Just because you don't like something, or YOU don't find it neccessary, doesn't make it junk either. Especially, since clearly, you have not experienced it. I think THAT is being ignorant.

I think you need to look up the definition of ignorant, my friend.

All I'm saying is if I only had a $600 budget for a car audio system I wouldn't waste it on a cheap flip screen receiver and an EQ.In my OPINION all your doing is trying to polish a turd.

I would spend my money on a better receiver without the fancy flip screen, get a nice set of speakers and power them with a quality 4 channel. And just so you know, the receiver will have a built in EQ.... Maybe even a 7 band!

Your recommendations lead me to believe that you lack knowledge as to what makes a stereo system sound good, but that's just my OPINION.

Just saw your post about getting the HU. You got a hell of a deal on the clarion. I would get Polk DB 5.25 fronts and 6.5 rears, powered by an alpine mrp-f300. See how that sounds to you before getting the sub unless you really want the low bass.

Alpine amps suck. They used to be great amps but the use garbage ICE chips. The best bang for your buck amp will most likely be soundstream. I would buy a 5 channel and save up and add your sub to the 5th channel when you're ready. Or the nano series. Small and stackable.

Where did you get your electrical engineering degree recently? Any qualifying proof to "alpine amps suck"?

Yup, I work in an audio shop on the weekends. Look up what an ICE chip is and then reply back to me. The only decent amps they make are the real high dollar ones and even then there are much better choices out there. Pdx series alpine amps in particular are the worst.

Method sound: a shop based around SQ not SPL.

My jeep also has a sub. It's blown out or is really horrible one or the other. It's located under the lock right before the transmission for park, drive etc. it's underneath the standard lockbox

Inside the center console? That would be the stock location for Wranglers that came equipped from the factory with a sub.

The other thing I have started pricing out and looking is replacing all electronics with Marine grade ones. There used to be not alot of selection when it came to Marine rated audio, but it is pretty amazing what is out there. Acoustics in Jeep are pretty close to a boat...at least if you are topless....

x2. Marine doesn't mean water proof, it primarily means corrosion resistant because of salt water environments. Any speaker that doesn't have a paper cone will resist water. As far as head units, I've never had an issue. All though I'm also never completely topless with the Rampage top. But even with the top a good blowing rain will get everything inside soaked and again I've never had an issue.

The PDX IS their most expensive line. You are aware that a failure of a packed IC that alpine didn't fab or design is largely beyond their control? And furthermore, the topology and components can differ between and within the series, so unless all use the same chip, in the exact same configuration, it's really unwarranted to trash their entire line. F

I've only heard great things about the middle of the road alpines, and that's why I picked two MRX amps up. I've fried amps from just about every brand, including soundstream. The little MRX alpines fit where you need them and haven't presented any issues that I've heard of.
