TJ tailgate and key

My ignition key will not unlock the tailgate on my TJ that I bought this past weekend, the key will lock and unlock the glovebox though. I guess I'm going to try to remove the lock cylinder and have it re-keyed to match ignition key. Anyone have any tips on removing this cylinder, I haven't had time in the afternoons to really look it over. My TJ is a 97 model, did it originally come with 2 different keys?

mine works everything but the driver door (pretty worthless!)...the rear lock is easy to get to behind that cover..a little cleaning and oiling maybe. The lock mech is a rod that might be getting hung up.

I'm gonna pull that cover off the inside of back gate this weekend and see if I can get things opened up, I don't believe any latch mechanism is stuck though. Think the tumblers in that lock cylinder are going to have to be swapped out to match my ignition key.

Try some PB Blaster first ,the locks get a lot of crud in them especially here in the salt belt. I have freed some stubborn locks with that stuff .
