TJ - Tires and Lift

I'm looking at purchasing a 2004 Wrangler X that's sitting on 33x12.5s with a 4" lift.

Are there any "issues" that I need to be concerned about with the tire size or the lift kit? Or things I should inspect?

I recall reading somewhere that TJs can suffer problems like unstable handling or bent tubes if the tires are "too large" or lifted too high - but I thought it was when you got up around 35s.

Anyway, I plan on having a pre-purchase inspection done, of course, but any help or advice here would be great too.

Thanks.

4 inches of lift is good for 33 inch tires and if done properly this is fine. As mentioned above, inquire about the gearing as that needs to be upgraded for the large tires. It should be 4.56 gears if you have the 5 speed manual. Also, stock dana 35's are not the most reliable axles with larger tires which is what you have in the back. Something else to think about.
