TJ Tranfer Case Drop???

So I want to drop the transfer case about a 1/2" with my new bb 2.25" lift, but the bolts look like the old Porsche bolts used instead of lug nuts to center the transfer case pan. A normal bolt will not center the pan like the stock ones do. What do I do?

You don't even need to drop that if your only at 2.25" of lift... Don't waste your energy!

You can get similar tapered head bolts at a hardware speciality shop that specializes in graded nuts and bolts. I found them at a local Ababa Bolt outlet for a friend who needed them.

Don't try adding washers, the metric bolts used in newer Jeeps are too short for that. And you're right that you need to drop it a half-inch or so, once you get to 2-2.5" or so it's common for some (not all) TJs to need the t-case dropped a tad. Driveshaft lengths vary by the type of transmission & engine type so some TJs need their t-case skidplates dropped with only 2" of lift, other TJs with different engine/tranny combinations don't.

The spacer can be whatever you want it to be. I have seen some people use washers, real metal spacers and even over sized nuts. It just needs to be the same space on each bolt.

Just be aware you need 1" longer transfer case skidplate mounting bolts too. If the bolts are metric as 2003 and newer TJs use, they need to be at least either 10.9 or 12.9 hardness. If it's for an older TJ that uses SAE bolts, they need to be either Grade 5 or Grade 8.
