TJ vs. YJ uppers - differences?

I found a pair of hard upper sliders locally used for super cheap, and in good condition. The guy said he ran them on his TJ and they "fit the opening". Well I went to Bestop's site and checked the install pdf and found that they need to be bolted in (not just dropped, like the soft uppers). Well the guy didn't include the nuts for one side. No big deal, I called Bestop and they said I could buy them. Fast foward to today. I figure I would install one side and it's a no go. There is about an inch (1") between the upper and the half door. I couldn't even get the bolts to thread into the hardware.

So did I end up with YJ uppers? These uppers fit in the space of my factory TJ (01') soft top. The 3 holes in the upper line up with the half door. The upper has a gentle curve at the back like a TJ, not the hard angle like a YJ.

I'm just a little confused and could use some clarification (Geoff?). Thanks in advance.

Ryan: I'm not familiar enough with those sliders to answer the question. Sorry. (we've got a LOT of products, and I've got a small brain).

Take a couple photos and send them to CSBESTOP@Bestop.com for the best answer.

Thanks

Geoff, thanks for the reply. I'll take some pics tonight, and try and to post here, as well as email them. I'm thinking they may be yj though. From pics that I've seen, after market yj hardtops appear to have the radius at the back of the door like a tj. I'll get some pics up, and that should help. Thanks again.

Pics

Okay here are some pics, I hope (following the how post a pic thread). One shows the 1" gap, one shows the passenger slider next to the factory passenger soft upper, and the last is the soft upper on top of the slider.

Hope that worked!

No that didn't, lets try this

Direct link

Here's the direct link to photobucket album. If I posted more pics here, maybe this would be easier. Thank you all for the patience.

Just speculating here. Not sure what you have, but the YJ Bestop door upper differ from the Mopar, square corner uppers. Maybe they are for the Bestop version of the YJ top, not the factory version of the YJ top.

Both shown below are Bestops for the YJ, see how one has the round corners?
