Well I looked on another forum today to read a post about the SRC Tube Fenders I ordered and the last person to post said that his order had been cancelled by 4wd.com because they never received their shipment of fenders. So I decided to drop them an email to see if it was true. Turns out it was true! Here's a copy of the email:
Hello Scott,
We received your internet order for the Smittybilt tubular fenders. Those are no longer available from the supplier...they sold out of their stock before they could fill all the orders. We had to cancel the order. Your card was never charged for this item. Sorry about the inconvenience.
Well, that's bad news to me, too. I had planned on NOT doing business with quadratec - because of them never contacting me about a backordered item for 2 1/2 months and then getting snitty with me when I complained about NO COMMUNICATION. Now it looks like 4wd.com is the same way? Whatever happened to the information age. They have your name, your customer number your order number and probably your e-mail address. Why can't they contact someone when there is a problem with an order?

I agree. I quit doing business with Quadratec quite awhile back. I ordered some differential covers that just seemed to vanish into thin air. It took me over a month to get that whole mess cleared up.
Also, in the past you could track your order online with 4wd. I noticed that after placing this order with them that that function on their website has been removed. You are right, in this day of technology you should be able to track just about anything you want.
Since then I have used several "family run" or "one man" online stores and have had good luck. Like I said before - lesson learned.
Needless to say, I won't recommend 4wd.com to anyone.
Admin, maybe the Vendor Forum needs a little more action. Ya know, where we can all share our horror stories and our success stories too. I've only been on the forum for a short time and I'm unaware of any online vendors that post here. Am I missing anyone? If so please post up and I'll gladly throw some of my money your way.

The vendor section is in the works right now. Just a few more bugs to be worked out before it's all said and done.
We have also talked about a feedback forum for such matters, but some of us are afraid that it will turn into a mud slinging contest and that would not be the purpose or intent. However if anyone has any issues with a manufacturer or vendor don't hesitate to post your opinions in the General Discussion section should you wish to do so.

I agree. That would need to be closley monitored for sure. However, it would be nice to hear some success stories as well and it would also nice to give someone a heads up about a vendor who isn't reputable.
Also on a side note. I made a post over at J.U. (yeah sorry, I'm also a member there - I still like it here much better ) just to give everyone the heads up and after some mud slinging took place they locked the thread.
As one person reminded us - JU is owned by 4wd.com.
Hi.
Just to add to the conversation above and I know this isn't the ideal thread, I've ordered a lot from Quadratec and can't complain about their service (so shipping is a bit high, yes - but love the paper catalog). The one vendor I was really pleased with is ok4wd. The guys that installed my new wheels and tires at their headquarters in Joisey were super friendly and knowledgeable. Sorry, I promise to add more comments on vendors on the new section once it's up.
Thanks!
Let's not castrate 4WD for a problem on a discontinued product. I have dealt with them for many years, with minimal problems. They never charged your card, so where is the problem??
You know how impatient us jeepers get waiting for goodies. The least they could do is let you know if they will not have it in a reasonable amount of time--or ever, so you can go ahead and buy somewhere else or some other product.
They should have contacted the buyer and told explained the situation rather than the buyer contacting them to find out what was going on. It's as simple as that.
If they were truely concerned for their customers, they would provide a substitute at no extra charge.

Actually they did charge my credit card. I'll work on getting the charge reversed today.
It wasn't a discontinued product it was a close-out. Meaning they had them in stock. They might as well have been selling Super Bowl tickets for a dollar! They put something for sale to the public that they didn't even have TO sell. See what I mean?

More than 3 times the price I thought I was buying the SRC's for. $ 649.95 shipped to my door. It's quite a bit more but I was actually about to buy these anyway before I saw the 4wd.com "deal".

They should never have charged your card, if the product was not shipped. They must have changed that part, I have never had my card charged,(if there was a stock problem). And, I agree, they should have contacted you.
It is just a pending charge on my card. However, it's still pending after 8 days. It'll be taken care of today.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
