To SYE or not to SYE

Hey guys, I'm currently running a 2" spring lift and 32" tires with no problems. Future plans include a UCF high clearance skid and the next set of tires I'm looking at are only available in 31s or 33s. Well I can't see going back down to 31s so I'm thinking about adding a 1" BL (which will be nec. for the skid anyway) to clear the tires.

So my question-is a SYE required for a total of 3" of lift? I don't expect I'll ever want to go past 3" of lift since I have a hard enough time climbing in my Jeep now and since she's a DD I'd like to keep my center of gravity as low as possible. If I can avoid the SYE for now it will free up money for other plans but if not...well such is life.

You will need a SYE because you are lifting the transfercase. Normally anything over 3" of lift will require a SYE. You have 2" of spring lift and you will be lifting the transfer case another 2-2.5" with the UCF tummy tuck. You are now at 4-4.5" and definitely in SYE territory.

I would SYE and CV if you can. They say the UCF raises the TC up 2" so tack that to your 2" lift.

But there is no black and white answer to this question. You will just need to install the skid and see what happens to know the answer. If you have the money to get the SYE and CV do it. It's a great addition to ANY rig that is wheeled.

You will definitely need a SYE with your described plans. I have 2" SL and a 1.25" BL (not a factor) and I definitely got vibes when I installed my UCF (no bodylift) skid. Given you are getting the high clearance option, I'm pretty sure your driveline angles will be impacted enough to warrant a SYE solution.
