To the rescue!

Well my roomate with his XJ angus buddy with an 04 rubi got stuck in some mud. Thy called me up for some help and agreed to go get them in exchange for beer later on. Well i winched the XJ out no problem, the rubi was just really stuck lol. So 4 hours later, a broken fog light, and busted up winch we finally got the rubi out. I've said of few times on here you live and you learn and i have learned lol. My winch literally cracked in half and the line frayed like frigin crazy! Luckily i have a birthday coming up in 2 weeks so im pushing for the warn m8000! All in all it was a fun time getting dirty and helping out fellow keepers ill attach some pics also. But i will definitely be investing in a quality winch since this japanese bad boy clearly couldn't hang!

Pics in chronological order haha. 2 things to take away from the experience:
1)Fog lights should never be that close to the tow hooks.
2)Even though the winch came for free with my Jeep i will save up and invest my money in a quality brand!
Oh and using the cumalong winch to free the rubi, the kid bashed his fog light by accident with a breaker bar lol (attempting to get more slack) I think he deserved it since mine got so beat up, just lending a hand lol.
Oh and the winch does still work! just pinched on the side as you can see from the pics i'll be taking it apart today and trying to find a replacement line for the time being. Any suggestions on a line? I may go synthetic and when i get a real winch keep the synthetic line as a backup.

If I ever get a winch I will have one rule when using it. If it breaks while pulling you out....You pay for the repair I sure as heck don't have $ to replace it! Haha

Lol me either im lucky in the sense that my b day is coming up, but i may have to type up a disclosure agreement for pulling people out. Beer just didn't cut it in this case! Cause a replacement winch cable alone is still over $100 lol that could have been a bikini top for me!

your winch broke because you let it spool all to one side

Yea i saw that. I unfortuntely had no help spotting cause the kid in the rubi was doing absolutely nothing but digging himself deeper. i unspooled it and it runs perfectly fine im going with a synthetic line and will surely pay more attention to what i am doing next time. In the mean time my m8000 winch fund has officially started.
