Too good to be true

I was checking out listing recently for a new Wrangler and I came across a pretty interesting one.

-2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport
-6 Cyl.
-6 speed
-20k miles
-$6500
-Lift Kit
-Lighting upgrades
-Pretty much decked out to the max

I was wondering what you guys thought, and if maybe this deal is too good to be true??

in all honesty that is like a 13-15k truck. Do you have any pictures? Something kinda seems off there.

I came across some fantastic listings when I was looking for a jeep. The emails I got back were also fantastic.... fantastically scam like. Be careful.

Things that appear to be "too good to be true" usually are. There are a lot of scams like this on Craig's list and other places.

That Jeep KBB's in Cali for $15,390.

Yeah I agree.I have been looking for another Altima and have emailed a few people.Well today I got an email back from one that said if I was interested in his car to send him my name and address and we would start the paper work through a 3rd party called paybycash and that his 2005 Nissan Altima S was $2490 with 51K miles. And all I needed to do was send them $4136 and they would take care of all the paper work and taxes and what was left they would send me a certified check back for.Now I am not sure how this scam works but it is BS that you can not safely buy or sell a used car these days.!!!!!

I would not even mess with that, thats like 15k jeep. If he will only do buisness through email its a scam, no phone number its a scam, if the jeep is located somewhere that hes not its a scam, if he needs a deposit run like hell!!!!!!! Its a scam. If you can not see the vehicle in person or talk to the person selling it in person don't waste your time.

I'm guessing there is a "1" missing in the price - $16500.

i agree with everyone, it is probably too good to be true. however, if you want to check it out and it's that close, go for it. i'd meet the guy in a high traffic area, like a shopping center parking lot, and i would also bring someone with me. let us know how it goes and what the outcome is.

Brad,

Turn this guy into AutoTrader IMMEDIATELY. IT IS A SCAM!

That picture that your posting is an old one from one of our Custom Jeep places out here in AZ. His shop is called Sonoran Truck & Diesel. This guy takes most of his pics at the same place. Check out some of his other listings, same background. He actually builds some nice Jeeps too.

Used Jeep Wrangler Cars at Sonoran Truck & Diesel Sales LLC in Scottsdale, AZ

Before I bought my TJ, I was almost taken by the same scam on Auto Trader. I talked with Sonoran Truck and found out that this thief uses their pics all the time to scam people out of money. He'll probably try to set up and escrow service to collect payment. HELL, PLAY ALONG WITH HIM, AND TURN IT ALL OVER TO THE POLICE. Someone needs to NAIL this A$$HOLE because apparently AutoTrader didn't do anything to him when I turned him in last year.

No.

The Rig is $26,645.

Sonoran Trucks doesn't use AutoTrader to sell their custom Rigs. It's a highjacked picture off the net. The thief uses these pictures, AutoTrader, and phony Escrow services as a front, and obviously has been able to avoid being caught and prosecuted because he's still doing it.

That would be great.
I don't know how many people have fallen for this trick, but hopefully you guys can put a stop to it.

We ALL work damn hard for our money, and this fool shouldn't be allowed to get away with scamming people out of it.

Hey, get this. I just got a reply from the "lady" selling that Jeep: Here's the email....it doesnt sound suspicious at all.......hahaha NOT!

Hi ,
Thank you for contacting me regarding my Wrangler. I am a 25 years old single mom with 2 kids.
I am now in a divorce with my ex and i am in desperate need of money to pay the mortgage on my house.
First of all I want to tell you that the car is in perfect condition, and the price includes all the shipping costs and insurance so you will not have to pay any extra charges if you can't come to Medina, OH to make the deal.
My brother works at the shipping company and he has 1 transportation per year for free so the shipping will be free.

more photos: Pictures by nancyjeep1 - Photobucket

The car has a Clean Title which will come along with it.
I am in Medina, OH. The car is with me here and is in a perfect condition.
It's a great car, I am devastated that I have to sell it but i really need the money to pay my mortgage unless i'll lose my house,
so I decided to sell it for $6,000.
Tell me if there is anything else you would like to know about the Wrangler.
Thank you for the interest you have shown in purchasing my Jeep.
Please reply,
Nancy

That is really funny because we found this same Jeep on Autotrader about 4 months ago while my Lt. was possibly looking for a Jeep. It was for sale for $5K but you had to have cash in hand, bla bla bla.........
