Good tow strap or two of atleast 25-30 feet in length and atleast 20,000 lb rating or higher. No tow straps with metal hooks on the ends. Those are dangerous. Good recovery points front and rear on your Jeep. A basic socket set. A set of torx bits possibly. Some metric combination wrenches between 8mm - 18mm. Maybe a pair of vice grips. Zip ties and duct tape are always good. A good hammer is good as well. Since it's a beginner trail ride I don't suspect you'll be doing anything too hard core so you won't need the whole garage. Have fun, be safe and you'll most likely never need to crack open that tool bag. For your vehicle anyway.

Edit: check all of your fluids and vent hoses as well and give your vehicle a good once over. Preventing problems at home will save you the headaches on the trail.

I like to carry 2-part epoxy and some of that self-sealing rubberized tape. Some water (for you or the Heep), some oil/tranny fluid/power steering fluid.

Ensure you have a jack capable of lifting a tire off the ground, tire tool, and a tire repair kit. I also highly recommend a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. Also a couple screwdrivers of varying sizes and allen wrenches.

If you think you have enough add more. I'm about to redo my setup from a box I made in the back to inside my src rear bumper. I bring 2 of whatever like wrenched and sockets cause u never know if you need 2 or drop one in some mud or water. Also I have a small blanket, waterbottle that purifies as well as a few Poland springs bottles and a few mre for those ya never know situations. Oh and my bear grylls edition knife lol
