I read through most of this, I also have a 4 banger, but I have a 2 inch body spacer lift. With that said I am comfortably pulling off the 31x10.5, next summer definetly will pick up some 32x11.5 BFG all terrains. By then I should have a roof rack, an agressive looking front bumper, and definetly going to pick up a snorkel.

Lots of good talk since I have been on here last! Thanks for the replies guys. I know I want to get 33" sooner or later, but I wont be trailing until mid next summer anyway so I might just put 2.5" lift, debating a body lift, 31" tires for now until I regear next summer.

In the mean time, I did a few things... Small stuff

When I got it.

1 hour of just having fun. (Milk jugs gone, side rails gone, light bezels plastidipped

Here is the plastidipped headlight bezels! I highly recommend this stuff! Easy to use. Do like 5 coats or more and let sit for 3o-45 min. Nice clean look and only $6 at Home Depot. Make sure to get the spray on.

Next is hard top with tinted windows, front windows tinted 20%, 2.5 lift, 1.25 BL, 31 tires with black rims or 33" if regeared to 4.88.

Did I miss something, because I have read all three pages of this thread and not one soul has told you that a grand will not buy much.
If you truly wish to look at this as an investment towards quality products and not compromise, please stop right there.
I spent your budget on 31's alone,if you can't afford it all at once do it in phases,by no means half ass it because you want to look the part, you'll regret it.
What size tires are those? If they are what I am thinking (undersized) your speedometer is off,"to the bad"
Bottom line- "It cost money to get what you want"

Lookin good mate, good luck with what ever you decide to do, what you have listed will look good I'm sure, I have no experience with a 4 banger but re-gearing would be the answer if you go to 33's, and remember bigger tires is the only way to get clearance under your diffs, which is where most would get stuck in deep ruts and on rocks.

thats my 2 cents anyway

cheers
Greg

My take on a daily driver. After the 2 in. bushing lift and a 1 in body lift, then the 33x12.50R15's, I went for the subtle stuff. '04 outside mirrors...look better, function better. Donnelly compass/temp mirror, 'bout $ 200 on E-bay. Heated seats...ahhhh. Lights are good too. I have two windshield mounted KC's, but I am moving them down to join the other two on the front bumper. 13 years and 130,000 miles later, I'm still just as happy with my TJ as day-one.

Oh, and I did get a set of Sahara fender extensions and had them painted to match. That worked out pretty good and wasn't a bank buster.

So not even a couple engine mods would help out to be able to wheel 33's? Anyone have pics of some aggressive looking 31" tire TJs?
