Top 3 Sites for jeep gear

Ok so my question is what is everyones top web sites for jeep gear? I have ordered pretty much everything on my jeep from 4wd . But alot of the time I don't feel like I'm getting the best deal especially after the shipping charges. I mean really I need a new door handle 10 bucks but they wanted 20 to ship. So any other decent sites I would like to hear them.

I love Quadratec but for low prices and free shipping I go PerformanceParts4Less. They almost always have 10% or 15% off codes available but every single thing I've ordered from them has come at least a month late. Other than late deliveries the only problem I've had with Quadratec is a POS fender that I'm in the process of returning. To have that fender looking anywhere near stock it would have been filled with bondo, I ended up driving to a Keystone and buying a "Platinum Plus" fender for less than what I paid for the other.

Lately I've been ordering from 4wheelparts.com, their prices are good and shipping is quick but most importantly it's free. If I need something the next day I will find the cheapest price online, call Quadratec and they will match the price. For example, they wanted $800 for an ARB bumper, I found it for $675 and they matched it plus the truck freight was $40 less than the other place. I've ordered a lot from stores on eBay also but you have to watch out for outrageous shipping charges. BTW, 4wheelparts and 4wd hardware are now affiliate company's however 4wd is much more expensive.

I needed to order 3 new ac control knobs. $10 each on Ebay, Quad, and Autoanything. 4wd had the exact some Mopar knobs for $2.99.

jeep4x4center.com seems pretty good. Haven't actually ordered anything yet, but selection seems good, easy to find what you are looking for. You can just look at a specific model (TJ, YJ, etc) so you are pretty sure it will fit your rig.

Question: Which is the best site to order from?
Answer: Yes.

The top three sites will be many people's opinions. The bottom line is,seemingly, every transaction/purchase is different. Even if someone is praising Q-tech that doesn't mean you will get the same price. They might have bought something a month ago. Or bought it the day the salesmen got laid in the morning before coming in to work resulting in him letting something go $100 cheaper.

There is no final answer. Research your items, find out where and how much someone else got that same item and at what cost. Try your best to find the best deal. The same item at two stores can have two different prices. One may offer a free shipping deal THAT weekend only. There are FAR too many variables.

Research. Be patient. Execute.

Asking for the top three is limiting.

For bigger companies with good distribution (like Bestop!), you can pick a site based on price, support, and reputation. The product is the same at all the sites.

But for smaller companies, you need to work it harder. Rokmen, or Savvy, for example, have some nice stuff, but might not be selling them thru Quadratec yet. You might need to go to their sites directly.

For older, discontinued or less popular products, you might need to add a few other sites. Collins Brothers, for example, sells all the new stuff, but they also occasionally find a crate full of some cool older stuff somewhere on a back shelf. They still have some older colors of Bestop stuff that places like Quad might not have.

AND, if I could make a plea for the local guys. Yes, your local shop might charge a few bucks more. But they are experts, and can help if you have trouble. They can help you get more involved in the sport. They can talk about trails and clubs. Sometimes that's worth a few dollars on a part.

stay away from Quadratrash & 4wheel parts if you can help it. I've ordered from Quadratrash 3 times, and they have royally screwed every order up.

Shop these guys instead:

Northridge 4x4 for sure. Not only do they have a good selection (even more than whats on their website), but they actually have guys who are great to talk to on the phone, and who are jeepers themselves. Shopped with them for almost everything I've gotten, and they've never steered me wrong. Best part is, they won't try to up-sell you their most expensive part, they will sell you what you need. And they have super fast free shipping.

I've actually had pretty good luck with 4wd parts as well, but I will admit, I never order from the website. I shop on the website, and then actually call to place the order.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like to talk to a person when I'm spending large quantities of money on my rig. I find with whomever you buy from, you generally get better deals talking to a salesperson than what they will give you on the website

4wheelparts prices are typically better and they do ADVERTISE free shipping BUT they make it up by WHACKING you with a HANDLING charge. So shipping AND handling is NOT free but it is typically a lot better than Quadratec...

I have bought from several 4wd, Quadratec
lately I have taken the time to browse the internet. Here's a example of what a little searching can do. My Heater blower motor shorted out. All major web dealers wanted 175 to 225 dollars. I found that the jeep cherokee takes the same blower motor for 75 bucks brand new from a smaller vendor with the same warrenty. Once It arrived it had the same builder part numbers as the other suppliers

+1 - I emailed them about that.

They did get back to me and tried to defend it by telling me they felt their shipping prices were competitive with their competitors...

My original email to them explained that although their price was competitive their shipping was over 3 times that of the place I decided to order the parts from....

4wheelparts and 4wd will price match, and if you live near a store you can go in and see the stuff. In GA there's 2 stores that you can go to and the one in Marietta,GA has thier wheels mounted on the wall for better viewing. They look a whole lot better in person than they do online or in a catalog. and they will work with you on the handling fees, if you want something that gets ordered alot, if it's on the shelf when you go to buy it, you don't have to pay the shipping/handling fees.

For cheap parts, check out craigslist.org
I saw two half doors this weekend for $100. Too bad they were the wrong color exterior and interior, but someone else snatched them up fast. Navy half doors with a spice interior would look strange on a red Jeep with a gray interior...

northridge4x4.com
4wd.com
amazon.com
Ebay.com

Can't stress Northridge and Amazon enough. Both offer free shipping. It seems like everyone forgets about Amazon. 4wd occasionally offers free shipping and also has 5% off codes. Their customer service has been great (thanks Chris) the few times I've dealt with them.
