Topless driving...is there a wind deflector?

Hi all, drove topless for the first time yesterday and it was fun until we hit 60mph..it's like a tornado hits you in the back.

Do bikini tops help to stop this? Or is there some other trick to deflect this?

A bikini top will help, but not that much. It's hilarious to me that you used the word "tornado" I was riding topless with a friend & her 5yr old daughter, the first thing the little girl asked me was "can you turn off the air" when I told her no I looked back at her & she had both arms covering her head & then she said " It's like a TORNADO back here". I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard!

Thanks. Will first try driving with no windows, if that works a little then I may get a full size bikini.

Or leave my wife at home

Try a windjammer, it'll help a little and if not at least you won't hear the people complaining from the back seat.

Here get her one of these. It's cheaper, she'll feel cool and she won't complain about the tornado.

I'm about to give up on trying to wear a hat while driving with the top down. I keep having to drive with one hand on top of my cap to keep it on

The hat will come off......

I have a bandana in the console for my 11 year old daughter or the girlfriend. My daughter still keeps a death grip on her sunglasses during the entire drive though lol.

Well there's your problem, you shouldn't even have doors on!

It should be a little better without doors, as that will reduce some of the suction generated by no top. Still, its going to be breezy.

dang nothing on while driving down the highway. I get hit with some nasty gusts from the side driving around town. I'd hate to be hit in the side on the highway lol

A gust of wind that hits you from the side while your doors are off...made me pucker the first few times.

I drive doors off all summer but rarely go on the highway.

I use a Bimini top a lot but prefer the open space. I think I am going to get a web or screen top for this summer.

My hat stays on, but a good side wind can knock it off.

I know exactly what you mean, the air blast from the side when I pass a big rig at 70mph is amazing. My wife said the seatbelt saved her life that day.

I use the full size bikini. The only thing I don't care for is mid way in the back once you hit 45+ flops around and can get very loud.

If you dont use the backseat the mesh wind jammer will really cut down on the back draft. Folding the rear seat up against the front seats helps too, as does stuffing crap under the seats so the wind wont blow under the seats.

Yes it will. Fortunately for me, I thought it was good and lost but found it in the back when I was parked. I've had business cards fly out of my front pocket while the hardtop was off and doorless.

It has mine too...I like getting slammed against the console a lot more than having to grab it as your about to fly out.

Btw, I know this is sexist, but I don't think convertibles were made for women. Trying to force my wife to go topless is impossible. "My Hair!"

I always laugh when I see someone in a vert with the windows up. Do it right or not at all.

My wife doesn't care that her hair blows around. She loves when the top is down and the doors are off.

If you think the wind is bad with the doors on and the top off, you should try hard top on and doors off, with the doors in the back accidentally blocking the pressure vents.....
I had to, I saw a motorcycle drive by

I just got through taking my 15 year old to softball practice. She saw me pull up in the jeep with top and doors removed and said "Well, I was having a good hair day"

If the wind bothers the jeep owner you have the wrong car, if it bothers the passengers let em walk! Lol or they can drive their car and save your gas for the trails!

I have one of these and it cuts down a lot on the wind when driving topless...also keeps my black seat covers from melting my legs on a sunny day when it's been parked in the sun for hours.

Spiderweb Shade
Wrangler Accessories, Jeep Top, Wrangler Top

I have mine in the standard configuration...I had it in a windjammer configuration briefly, but unless you keep your seat way forward, it's pulled so tight against em that every time you lean forward, your seat is pushed forward an inch or so and then when you lean back, you push the seat back. Just gets a lil annoying...plus you can't reach through the middle to the back anymore.

Edit: I have an older style one...but it appears to be identical to the SW1 TJ Trailmesh. Has held up nicely over the past year or two. May need to replace some of the bungees on it but you can buy em at Walmart or on their website for cheap.
