So driving on the interstate today not sure what exactly happened, wasn't flying just cruising when I rear ended a small airport shuttle bus. Obviously by me hitting the vehicle it was my fault...Still surpised at how hard the impact was though, the bus must've been much slower again I don't think I was going much more than 70...anyways my jeep got hit hard in the front took most of the impact I got rocked by the air bag and some bruises but otherwise ok.
Anyways the whole front is shot and even near the doors part of the body is bent or buckled, I had to get out on the passenger side as the driver door wouldn't open. Worst of all is I thought I had collision and I was wrong...and it would've only costed me $20/mo. Kicking myself really hard right now for that oversight. Obviously wouldnt bring my car back but would have alteast gotten me in the right direction with a replacement.
So I'm currently unsure what to do. The jeep wasn't my DD but I did take it a few times during the week to work to keep the miles down on my new car. I'm going to part as much as I can off the Jeep and hopefully reuse what I can and sell whatever else to recoup some costs.
Here comes the dilema:
Do I look for something pretty stock with lowish miles and try and swap parts?
Or
Spend a little and find something a little modified already so theres less work?
Obviously I'd love to build it all myself but factor time, money and lack of a garage its tough.
So far I've come up with a few candidates:
(1) 2001 Sport, Red, 6cyl, 5spd, AC , 145k, "new tires" (Stock size looking), No rust (have only seen 1 pic), Both tops (I have both as well) and all records. $6700 would try and get for $6000
(2) 2001 Sport, More of a purple tint red, 6cyl, 5 spd, 105k
3.25" RC lift 31s. New serp belt and tensioner and idle pulley.
New steering box. Black Hard Top w/ defroster
Poison Spyder front, inner, and rear fenders as well as poison spyder bumper $9500 Negotiable.
I've seen more pictures of #2 and its pretty clean underneath. Current owner has only had it for 1.5 years, would've liked to find one with someone whose had it for a while so I have a ball park on maintenance but it's not hard to change most of the fluids so...
Also with #2 apparently the owner before this one swapped a donor frame onto the current tub and he said theres no rust. Not a big deal to me I don't care if its original or not as long as its clean.
So I didn't really want to spend more than ~$6k no real for that number but I'm saving for a house and already have a 15 Accord as my DD so I didn't want to drop a ton but don't want a rust bucket either. BUT I wanted to do the PS fenders before I crashed today and the miles are lower at 105 so I'm debating on spending the extra $$ for those mods, any insight?
Not in a huge rush but would like something sooner than later....
