Tough Stuff hood mount w/ pics

I installed my tough stuff hood mount today. The install was very easy, and everything went smoothly.

Don't have a small shovel yet, so it just has the axe on it. Here are some crappy iphone pics.

Anyone know of lights that are low profile like these that would be good for a over the windshield light bar?

Not that actually put out enough light to be useful. Most you see put out so little useful long-range light that they have to be mostly for show.

Kelly,

I have these KC's mounted on my rear bumper. They provide alot of light, probably a bit more light than stock headlights. If you were to mount 4-5 of them on a light bar, I think you'd have some good results. But as Jerry stated, your not going to get a very long throw. If you're looking for long range, you'd be better off buying Long Range Lights.

I really like that mount with the lights. Where can you find them?
Can a Hi-Lift Jack be mounted on it along with the lights, or is it meant specifically for the Shovel?

Toughstuff's hood mount was actually designed initially with a Hi-Lift in mind.

Great, thanks for that. I could live with $85. I really wanted this mount for a Hi-Lift Jack. But if you can dress the underside with lights to make it look better....I'm all for that too.

Any idea what kind of lights those are and where to get them? And are they the only specific lights that will fit underneath?

I had a similar set on an old truck of mine along time ago. I bought them at Autozone. The light was terrible, they definitely were more for show. But with the other good lights I have on the rig, I might not care about it too much, just as long as the lights are not very expensive. If they are, it would make more sense to me to put the same KC's on there, that I have on my rear bumper.

Thanks man.
$70 for 6 lights? Hmmm....
Judging by that, I would think that they are pretty much for show. Which is fine, they really dress up the Mounting Bracket nicely. But I wouldn't imagine those lights do too much for ya at night. Do they at least put out as much light as your regular headlights? How wide and how far is the spread?

I'm not trying to put down anyone's gear here at ALL, to each their own.
If I'm wrong about the light quality, someone PLEASE correct me. I too would like to see a picture of those lights at night if anyone has some. As for the daytime, i think they look great!

Kelly,

You could always get a 50" "E" Series LED light bar.
They're brighter than HID's, and are only $1,850

I'm actually wondering if those lights on the hood rack could be replaced for say... emergency (blue) lights?

they are brighter, and i think that they are better than the high beams (really bright and about 4 lanes wide) , but because they are up so high you realy cant use them on the road or you will blind every one. also one thing i realy like is if you break one of the lenses you can call the company and they have a no questions asked life time warrenty on all of there products. i broke one of them and they sent me two free to germany and i had them in less than a week. why cant all companies be like this.

All that sounds good.
Do you have any pics you can post of them in action at night?
If not, can you take some, and post them?
How bad is the hood glare with these?

I have some KC Long Range lights mounted on windshield brackets.
Even though the beams are tightly focused, I get quite a bit of hood glare, and it can get annoying after a while. These seem like they could go either way. More glare because of them being even closer to the hood, but possibly less annoying because they are positioned a little further down the hood.
