Question TPS didn't cure my over rev blues

My 2000 TJ 4.0 is over revving but only occiasionaly. Sometime in park,sometimes in gear which is kinda un-nerving to say the least. I replaced the TPS upon Jeep Forum rec's but it didn't do it.
I would appreciate any thought? Fuel filters are my last option I guess.....help

is it at idle only? assuming you have an auto (park and in gear comment). Try looking around the idle air controller, or IAC. It is part of the throttle body, intake area of the engine.

usually a dirty or clogged IAC will be diagnosed with a low dropping idle, but at idle the IAC controls all the air/fuel to keep the engine running, so it might cause a run up on idle also. once running the TPS takes over to manage the air/fuel.

And assuming you have a manual, check to make sure one of your vacuum plugs isn't missing. Open up the hood and look down at the engine from the drivers side. There should be three or four plugs on the side of the engine, two or three will have vacuum lines coming off of them. If you have a manual, one should be plugged up. A lot of times those fall off and cause some wonky symptoms with your idle.

I'll give it a shot, thanks. IT does it in gear when accelerating and at idle as well.

Thanks...it's an automatic and all the lines are in place or capped. Same thing I thought too. Good thinking though cuz it kinda acts like a vaccum leak.

It was slightly dirty so it's cleaned and I reset the battery/computer for 24 hrs. now it's a wait and see. Thanks for all your help!

It was mice that ate the wiring loom to the IAC and screwed up the TPS too. fixed
