Track Bar Rod End Range of Movement...

I recently installed a 3'' lift on my 05 TJ with an adjustable front track bar and rod end on the frame mount side.

I'm getting slight vibrations in the steering wheel that come and go at high speeds (55+)...

My latest theory is that the track bar is vibing loose or just has too much slop in the rod end. I took the adjustable track bar off another TJ that had ran it for ~3years.

When I installed the track bar I remember being able to rotate the tapered part of the rod end bolt 360 degrees relatively easily. Is this the way the joint is supposed to work? I can understand how the rod end joint will need to rotate up and down with axle motion, but forward and back too?

The vibes aren't bad, but after 500 miles on the lift, the axle mount bolt vibed loose probably 3/4 turn.

Thanks for any help / suggestions...

easiest way to check the tack bar is have some one move the steering wheel back and forth rapidly between like 10-11 oclock to like 1-2 oclock ,engine off while you lay in front of the axle and listen , look and feel for movement in either end of the track bar along with any other connection on the suspension including the sector shaft at the steering box. What is the condition of the tires including balance

Tires are brand new 33x10.5R15 BFG MT KM2... Had them balanced at local shop.

They said they didn't put any weights on them. Instead used 'bean bags' inside the tires.

What kind of track bar do you have?

Follow the advice above. Dry steering test will expose looseness.

What's your front pinion angle, in relation to your front driveshaft angle?

It's a Rancho adjustable front track bar from kit RS6506...

I'll have to check the front drive shaft / pinion angle but I dropped the transfer case 7/10'' (seven 0.1'' metric washers).

I'll try the steering test too!

Just looked at some pictures of that track bar--definitely not the best design I've ever seen. They chose the wrong end for adjustment, the bends look to be wrong for diff cover clearance and you've just got a small TRE at the frame end. If that's even slightly loose, it'll let you know in the form of some nice shimmies.
