Trackbar question???

I just finished putting on my front adjustable trackbar. I didn't have any problems, pretty straightforward install but when I got done the steering wheel was off center by about 90 degrees. I know how to fix this, that's no problem but I was just wondering if this is normal. I drove it and couldn't really tell much difference over stock, but I could really tell the front end was out of a bind when I was working on it. Also can someone tell me exactly how to figure out where it needs to be adjusted to?? I took the old one off, turned the steering wheel back and forth to straighten the wheels then adjusted it until it slid in the mount with ease. I tried to measure the best i could and it looks like it centered up the axle, but I couldn't really see an accurate way to measure it. thanks!

of course it is normal. You moved the whole axle over and it pulled the pitman arm with it.

I pull the vehicle out of the shop and move it back in so I know I am driving straight ahead. Then adjust the turn buckle on the drag link until the steering wheel points at 12 o'clock again. I also set the toe at the same time. I usually hit the steer ahead on the first shot but sometimes it takes a tweak or two.

Be sure to adjust the turn buckle so the bolts don't contact the tie rod.

For the centering measurement I stick the bolt in the hole and measure from the frame out to a specific spot on the tires. Then duplicate that on the other side. Check your tread pattern for something similar on each side and go from there.

Awesome, I figured it was good, just wanted to make sure. I have tried to set the toe in and never had any luck, I just go spend 50 and get it done. I will have to straighten the wheel when I get home from work tonight, started on the back and by the time i got done cut myself short on time!!

When i drove the jeep to work today I noticed a little wobble of the steering wheel while driving. It wasn't there before I replaced the trackbar. It's nothing bad, just a little side to side motion of the wheel as I drive!

And your track bar is tight at the axle and the frame?

Both sleeves on the tie rod are loosened?
