TracLoc? How do you tell?

How do you know if your Jeep has TracLok or not?

You can request a build sheet from jeep and it will give you everything you want to know about your jeep. And most likely if you have a d44 in the rear and it is a sport,x, or sahara you will have 3.73 and maybe the lsd. My 03 sport came with the d44 3.73 and the lsd.

Jack up the back of your jeep, put it in neutral, spin the back tires. If they both spin the same direction its an lsd or locker possibly. If they go in opposite direction then its open I believe. Not 100% sure but, that's what I've been told. I had a track lock put in mine and they both spin the same direction.

I believe in the later models maybe older than 2000 I think the d44 came with LSD standard and then the newer models had it as an option, someone correct me of I'm wrong please, but I remember reading something like that.

So If they both spin the same direction its an lsd or Traclock. If they go in opposite direction then its open. Did a break job over the weekend the rear wheels spin opposite of each other...So that makes it a open..Correct

I just called the local Jeep dealer and provided them my VIN, and asked them to confirm. I have the D44 and Trac-Lock. Guess I got the guy right after donuts and coffee...

Plus, doing the tire-turn test does confirm, as well.....

The tires will also spin in the opposite direction if the clutch pack in a Tracloc is worn out. Clutch packs in the Tracloc only last perhaps 50K miles.
