trailer wiring

I got a trailer wiring kit from Jcwhitney, on the package it says 98-06 and there is a 91-97 one that i just realized is on the website, i know JCwhitney is not the most reliable and was wondering if it is true that the way the brake lights were connected changed from 97 to 98 if it is true then I'll just switch it, but i dont exactly know

did you get the one thats connects into the factor harness using a T-type connector or the one that splices into the wires with crimp connectors?

just go under th ejep and see if the connectors match. im sure jeep used new and old style connectors in the 97 pending on what month your jeep was made.
On my 97 dodge ram i had stuff from all kinds of year rams.

As I understand it, '03 and before connect on the passaenger side, and after that it connects on the driver's side. I don't know if the color code is the same. It connects under the fender flap behind the rear tire.

Yes the '97 needs a different type of t-connector than is used on '98 and newer. '98 and newer plug into the passenger-side only, you need one that plugs in on both sides for '97 and older. I have a '97 and mine needed to be plugged into both sides. Send it back, it won't work.
