Trans on the way out? or no?

I've got a 01 4.0 auto. This weekend it started shifting strange. You take off from a dead stop an it won't shift out of 1st, you can get up to 30mph at 3-4k rpms. Let off the throttle for a second it'll shift, then it drives fine until you stop again.

Any thoughts? New tranny? Rebuild this one?

Thanks

That's what I thought at first but a few of them are curved like the bands maybe?

The bigger flat chunks are brown on one side and black on the other with tons of small circular indentions.

The trans pan gasket is a solid rubber/metal reusable type.
