Transmission Cover Nut Plate

2004
Jeep Wrangler X

I assume in the attached picture, that the bolt that is circled, is meant to screw into a nut plate that should be welded to the frame? If so, I believe my nut plate may have come loose and now the nut wont screw in. It just constantly turns with no bite. Any ideas of how to fix this?

TIA

You might be able to pry down on the crossmember and get the bolt out. You are going to have to have a new insert welded in. Do a google search with these words inserst spinning, frame on here and jeepforum and you will find threads with fixes.

It's a very common issue. More often than not, prying down on the plate while loosening the bolt will put the Nutsert in enough of a bind to stop it from spinning.
