Transmission Help.. Will Not Go In Gear

So the plan today was to go fishing and then hit up some trails with my buddy. I have been running around out of town and not really had my jeep out too much for the last 4 weeks.

Today I get in it crank it up and drive off. When I go to shift into 2nd it wont go. I let off the gas and hear this noise that sounds like the gear is not fully engaged and its skipping teeth (light clattering kinda thing). So I drive it around some more and wind up having to drift through an intersection and the thing sounds like a bad synchro when I finally get it shifted into 2nd. My next idea was to try and double clutch it which didnt work. Finally again when it wouldnt go into gear I barely let the clutch out and it worked its way in. Not in a smooth fashion to say the least

First thing that comes to mind is the fluid may be low or there may be some water in there and the sitting time did some damage. Im going to check the fluid and start there.

Has anyone else had this type of issue? Fixes?

I'm guessing this is related to your 3" body lift as described in your other post.

Good chance your shifter is hitting the floorpan.

Very well could be, but did this problem just start? A 3" body life could do this but if this problem is new and nothing has recently changed on the jeep, I would think it must be something else. You could check by removing the shift boot and looking to see if the shifter hits the tub when you go down for 2nd. Is it only second that has the problem? Reverse works? What if you go from 1st to 3rd without 2nd gear?

By the way, most believe a 3" BL is just way too high for a jeep and that 1.25" is the safe and "proper" height.

When I bought the jeep it had the body lift on it. I have had problems with 3rd gear since I bought the thing and now 2nd is giving me some trouble. 3rd I just had to learn how to faniculate it and it was fine. Here are some pictures of the lift. Let me know what you guys think. It looks to me like the trans need to come up off the plate. I clear the body with the shifter. That was one of the first things I checked
