Transmission Hesitation 42RLE

I have a 2004/05 LJ Rubicon and lately when the temp gauge is close to 190f or so it has a hesitation when you take off from a stop???
The Jeep has a 105k on the miles and has not really given me anyother. Transmission problems...

I have a aftermarket trans cooler and fan and I am running ATF4 full synthetic...

Check the fluid. If that's not the problem my guess would be that your transmissions days are numbered. Also, my lj has a factory trans oil cooler? May be different because its an 06? Did you add an extra cooler?

That's the one I was talking about. If it makes you feel any better mine started getting sloppy around 100k miles.

The cooler in the pic is a aftermarket cooler, and it is nice to know, but doesn't make me feel any better that my transmission is going out and it just gives my wife something else to bitch about my jeep.... :-( thinking about getting rid of one just haven't desided which one wife or jeep leaning toward the wife.... Lol!!!!

Ha, when my transmission goes I'm probably gonna rip out the whole drive train and throw in a fuel injected 350 hooked up to a manual transmission and pull out every last piece of emissions crap in my lj. Another thing to consider is changing your transmission filter if you haven't already done so. As for the wife...well I have an ex fiancée but my jeeps still with me. Ha.

My primary concern is that my torque converter just feels sloppy, it struggles on hills but in 4 low it locks up with no issues. Maybe that's what you are experiencing too.

I think that is it, I have taken to a AMMCO Transmission shop and a Jeep only shop they both said torque converter and trans are fine but I am ase certified and sell autoparts for a living and deal with people coming in with this type of problem all day... I think it is the vains in the converter have become disformed and now don't operate correctly...

If you swap the converter and it works let me know. My only gripe about my lj is how sensitive it can be when changes are made due to its obsessive compulsive ecu.

It drives great when it is below 185f but it feels like it doesnt have as much power as it used to and motor runs fine...

I am leaning to the idea of a bad torque converter???
