Transporting a soft top with a hardtop on?

Going to pick up an 04 Rubicon tomorrow. It has a hardtop installed and comes with a soft top. I'm taking a train to pick it up and driving it home so I don't have any other way to get the soft top back... will it fit inside of the Jeep somehow? I really don't want to have to go back for it because it is over 4 hours away. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might be able to fit it in the back somehow? Maybe fiddle with it a little at a certain angle...?

I drove 300 miles one way to pickup my hard top and my Jeep had the soft top on,on the trip up and had to work with it but finally got it in the Jeep before putting the hard top on for the trip back home.BTW it is easier to put the soft top inside the roll bar before putting the HT on.

Best to take the hardtop off, try to fit soft top in and then put the hardtop back on? Also getting a set of tires... those certainly won't fit... gonna need to ship those.

Rent one of those little U-Haul enclosed trailers and haul it all.

X2 on that.Does the Rubi have a hitch? If so you can rent a small U-haul enclosed trailer for like $18 a day.You could keep that for a week compared to what it will cost to ship the tires back.

It takes a bit to fit it in but as others have said....take off the hardtop first and you can manage it. I had to do the same thing when buying my jeep that came with both.

It does have a hitch, not sure if it has the ball mount though (or what the wiring situation is)... but I could just pick one up at UHaul I suppose. Thanks for the tips, that might be my best bet. I knew I came to the right place. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I use my soft top in the summer and hard top in the winter. During the winter i just roll my soft top down and it fits in the jeep while still connected to the roll bar while the hard top is on. so it can be done

Back from my 16 hour journey... weather was good so I left the back window open and managed to fit the soft top and four extra 31" tires inside the jeep (somehow) with the soft top hanging out the back. Anyway, thanks for the tips and suggestions... I'll be back for more I'm sure .
