I've been looking into buying a soft top for my jeep . I purchased it with a hard top only and hard doors .. So I do not have a soft top frame . I was looking into a frameless soft top and ran across the bestop Trektop nx . What does everyone think of theirs ? Is it very loud on the highway ? Seem like solid construction that will last a while ? Or any other soft top recommendations ?

I just sold my hardtop on my 03 and bought a Trektop NX. So far I like it. It seems like its a good quality top. This is my first Jeep so I don't have experience with any other tops. I like it because you can just flip the top back and have that open air feel. Installing it initially was kinda hard - at least the getting the side and rear windows in. I wouldn't want to have to take those on and off each day to get the open feel. I hope to keep mine parked in my garage so I can just leave the windows off all the time. I still think its the best option out there. I looked into the ramapge framelss. I liked that it had the window storage built in the roof but it doesn't have the sunrider and according to reviews the quality wasn't as good as Bestop.

I was very impressed with the Top. I had one on my LJ and 2 on two different JK\JKU. I had bought a cheaper top and hated it. So I waited for the Trktop NX to go on sale and I bought it. Easy to put on and very durable. Fairly quiet for a soft top.

love the top, but both the gf's and mine developed a rip right above the drivers left shoulder, where the hinge for flip up sunroof thing. both were replaced through warranty. and are sitting on the shelf till the original ones get worse. added a canvas patch before the warranty replacement came it.

other than that, love this top.

a tip on installation, do all of the zippers first, then stretch it to get the plastic channels in. that way you arent adding the stress at the zippers, causing them to tear. as always, more than one way to skin a cat, YMMV

question for those who have used the top. i just installed mine. if i have the top flipped back and want to close it should it latch the 2 front levers then try to slide the edges above the doors into the channels are slide the edges in the channels above the doors then flip the levers inside closed? mine is brand new and tight to get those edges above the doors into the channels.

You want the windshield latches closed before putting in the door flaps into their channels.
The top needs to be pulled tight into position. The flaps are tight but watch a couple of the better videos...... some have good "tips".

I've run this as a summer top for the last couple of years. I love it. It has a ton of flexibility with regards to sides off, top back, etc. I find that I don't take the sides off that much due to the unpredictability of weather where I live.

My only complaint is that the crossbar on mine is a bit squeaky.

I highly recommend taking a few inches of paracord and attaching to the zippers to make bigger "pulls". Makes the task of putting the sides back on much easier.

As for the order of latches vs edges, I usually flip the top back into position, get the edges out of the way, then latch it down and then snap the edges into their grooves. That way you're using a lever to suck the top down as much as possible instead of some plastic bits.

I have had my Trektop NX for little over 10 months, overall, it has been a great top especially after being beaten in the Arizona sun. The only negatives I have to say about it, is the stitching, along with the black plastic pieces you clip in. The stitching has started to rip along with the black plastic clips. Other than that, it's a great top with the sun flip back feature. Definitely worth the money!

I was an early adopter of the Trek NX. Over the 5 years that I have had it, it has held up well. It has a couple spots where its showing wear. As this is my main top, I hope to get another couple years out of it. Ill definitely go with another Trek NX next time.

I'm on year 3 with mine, overall very happy. 2006 LJ Pro: sun rider is nice; very tight fit, Safari option is fantastic. I run with just safari and a tonneau most of the time. Side and back windows for trips or when it's too hot. Cons: the upper corner stitching on the back window has pulled out, but it doesn't leak and is not getting worse. I broke one zipper tab, I use vice grips to zip. Need to lube them more often. If it's below 70, it's a huge struggle to get it buttoned up. But that also means no flapping and less road noise. Scan u tube for videos with tips and tricks for installation.

Edit: The kit includes door surrounds, most others did not when I bought mine.

Been running one for almost half a year now. Really happy with it. Easy install, make sure it is warm or you will tear where the back window has the zipper stitched on it trying to force it to meet the sides.

I like the look but not really the functionality. I have had mine for over a year and it is still not very easy to put the windows in. It is a very tight fit which is good but makes it very hard even in full sun. The side windows are hard to zip because they are so tight against the rollbar. I did make some extra length zipper pulls from paracord which helped. The passenger side window's zipper got snagged on the fabric b/c of this and got ripped it a little. It's not totally hosed but still sucked. It is almost like the top should be a little wider.

I like the way I could just take out the back window in my old top to get some air flow without having to remove all windows. Sometimes the back off is all I need and this top is an all or nothing type of deal the way it goes together.

I also had a problem with the rear window seam leaking and luckily besttop sent me a new back window. I went ahead and used some seam sealer on all the seams just for extra insurance. At any rate, for the price, I cannot say I am 100% happy customer.

This is the top that came with my jeep when I bought it, I only had it on for maybe a week, I run my half top in the summer and hardtop in the winter. They seem to be a little more expensive up here in Canada, I don't think it will ever make it was back onto the jeep again.

Well waited too long..... Autozone raised the price from $660 to $729 and now the discount code doesn't work either. Hmmm ..... Kill the 20% discount and then raise the price by 10%???

Autozone had a sweet deal. If you're still looking, I just ordered Trektop NX for my TJ. AutoZone.com search 56820-35 -> was $659.99 - enter promocode SAVE20 or MAX20, cuts the price to $527.99. Fill out rebate for $50 (purchase by 10/31/2016), cuts your price to $477.99 (vs. $729.99 everywhere else I shopped).
